Do you suppose you could run two or three instances of Digital Performer? Since one instance can't use all that processing power, maybe two or three can. Publishing their ports internally may not be so easy, though. Maybe Rewire or Jack Tools, or SoundFlower. You could rename each instance of DP to...

I started off with a 2408 and later a mkII, but now use RME. I now use the Digiface, Multiface, and ADI-8DS. Sound quality, TotalMix, and PCI/CardBus interoperability were the reasons for my switch. Having said that... If what you have is working for you, keep working with it! No need to sell off yo...

I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone! I also have a SampleCell-only OS9 machine. If I have 10 samples on my hard disk from which I want to map a drum kit, I work fastest and find myself most comfortable with SampleCell Editor. I guess it just "clicks" with what I expect of a sampler UI. I've ...

I'd assume that this update includes improvements from the most recent Firewire SDK, which has updates for CoreAudio Firewire audio drivers. If this is the case, users of Apogee, Presonus, and all sorts of interfaces with BridgeCo chips may see a difference.

Hmm, if it runs in Live, I'd assume that the interface/external gear side of things are just fine.

Do you have DP set to send out beat clock through its MIDI outs?

I would *never* run anything without an analog-controlled level control direcctly to speakers -- as you say, it's too risky. I went through the same search a year ago, looking for a good line switcher/volume knob for my Bryston 2B/Dynaudio BM5P combo in an untreated room (a typical bedroom studio). ...

I own a PowerCore, and find that DP CPU usage grows exponentially the more plugins I have displayed. There's a pretty dramatic difference when I close the plug-in windows. I don't see the same behavior with other hosts, so so it may be worth a try.

FYI: I'm on a Quicksilver 1G/dual.

The 1-day battery removal trick worked for me when my Beige refused to start from anything but my OSX partition (CD-ROM included). I know we're talking about a different model, but it's interesting to see that there was a common problem/cure. Right now I'm debating a Sonnet for my Quicksilver 1G dual.

Thank you auptown for the gracious offer! I'd been dreaming of the same feature for quite a long time myself; after all, delay compensation/alignment have been part of hardware like the O2R, DA-88, or the Oxford desk... so we're talking about >10 years that DP hasn't caught up (no intent of starting...

Which gamelan instrument are you looking for? Gongs, xylophones, violin-equivalent, marimba, hand drums, or voice? Or your triangle-equivalent (yes it exists)? If you're after "authentic-sounding", you can't beat a loop. If you're looking for specific instruments, Heart of Asia is the only...

Wow. I always thought that the UA-20 was one of the most stable USB devices around!

My main units are a 2408mk3 and RME HDSP, but I also keep a UA-20 as an emergency unit because it's stable and quick to set up.
