Re: Who here actually produces as their day job?
Hey, y'all! Great discussion-- it's good to read about people going through similar stuff, isn't it? I've been mostly recording/producing in London since 2004, otherwise backing up lots of singer/songwriters and playing with my own band. I moved here from the US, where I did much more guitar playing...

Re: Can you make DP Pitch Correction sound like Autotune?
Yes, I tried quantizing first and this sort of cleaned it up, made it slightly more mechanical-sounding. Scaling to 0% was just a mess, but I'll try 5% and down and see how that does.

Can you make DP Pitch Correction sound like Autotune?
Normally, I'd be the last one to try to make DP's very nice-sounding Pitch Correction sound like Autotune-by-the-batch, but I'm working on a comedy track that depends upon the effect. Anybody succeeded in over-tuning Pitch Correction in that special Autotune stylee? Still in DP 6.03-- the DP 7 disk ...

Re: Audio playback problem
Well, I've determined that it is NOT the buffer size. It's the same right down to a buffer size of 64.

Re: Audio playback problem
I'm having this same problem currently... It might be a buffer size issue, I think. I'm doing overdub tracking and my buffer size is set large (1024). Is this too big, and what's small enough to make recording latency as close to zero as is possible? I'm going to test my theory and get back to you. ...

Re: 10.5.7 Is Up
"Good that the problem disappeared, but note that QT and iTunes updates are not included in OSX updates." Fair point, but I was thinking more that there was a general sound issue that may have been resolved by something in one of these updates. It's highly likely that I'm wrong about that....

Re: 10.5.7 Is Up
OK-- an update on my previous reply. I just installed the latest update-- Quicktime and iTunes were included I believe-- and my previous difficulty seems to have vanished. (ie every time I restarted I had to reinstall MOTU Audio since it could not see my PCI card.) I've only done it once, but the fe...

Re: 10.5.7 Is Up
It might need a fresh battery. An interesting thought-- I haven't had any trouble starting the computer or problems with date and time or other settings, though. Unless you mean a different battery? Not the mac's battery, but the battery in the 24i/o (if it has one). I used to have trouble with my ...

Re: 10.5.7 Is Up
Well, I'm one of the brave souls who's thrown himself on this particular hand grenade, going where others fear to tread-- AKA I'm an idiot/optimist. So far, so, ummm-- well, here's my problem. Pretty much everyday, I switch on my Mac (2x 3.2 Quad-core Intel Xeon, 8 GB of RAM), and notice that my MOT...

Re: Is the 8 core O.K. ?
I've got an 8-core and it's pretty much the same situation as my previous set-up (last of the G4 dual-cores, 1.42 gHZ-- the noisebox!)-- if you do too many things too quickly, you get a crash. Otherwise, it pretty much behaves itself. But I sure can use a lot more tracks and plug-ins... :) BTW I'm r...

Repairing the damage...
A very helpful topic... thanks, all. That answers one of my questions, as to why the signal that I thought was peaking at -2 was actually coming out at something much lower. I've discovered that putting a MW Compresser, say, across the master fader seems to give a more accurate (if not perfectly so)...
