OS updates always scare me... :|

"update" is tech speak for "even better", right?

or should i stick with "if it ain't broke (too much), then...."

"If it ain't broke..." is always a safe approach.

I was snooping around for something related to Core Audio or anything which could be DAW-related but am not finding very much, if anything.

However, I just stumbled across this article which digs into 10.5.7 a little bit and explains a bit better what the update does than Apple discloses in its update notes.

It's the BOM!! :P

Well, Mikey did try it and so far so good. I'm have a little trouble with the public beta of Quickeys but nothing else problematic. On the surface I notice nothing new. I see nothing!

Did you notice this in the Macworld article? "...Lots of changes to audio and video (both ATI and Nvidia) drivers." Hmm...

I have a problem with Eucontrol 1.3.0, which I had successfully loaded prior to updating from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 ...... now my MCMix isn't recognised. I don't know if any of you have Eucontrol 1.2.5 working happily??

Otherwise everything seems zippy, especially opening and closing.

Cheers

Yes. I saw that, and "hmm" is right. Lots of little changes to make a big difference? Lots of little changes that will hardly be noticed? Is it Built-In Audio or is it with CoreAudio more specifically? Changes to CoreAudio would be interesting since MAS wraps to it. Are the changes just "changes" or are they "fixes"?

These are not life-or-death questions, certainly, and the few people I know who've done the update have no complaints. That's good news. The best news is that there doesn't appear to be any bad news, gladly.
