Audio playback problem
For some reason whenever I record audio coming from the built-in input, the playback is always slightly early. I always have to zoom in to the audio file and pull it to the right a tiny bit so that it will be on point. Pain in the butt! How can I fix this?
I'm using DP 5.12 with a G5 loaded with plenty of RAM and processing power.

.
Is that "delay" always consistent? Is it always by the same amount?

Re: Audio playback problem
There's no delay. I have my buffer setting at about 256 when i'm recording. So there's no latency when i'm monitoring the live feed. But when I play the audio back, it's a tiny bit early. It's almost like it's over compensating for something.

Re: Audio playback problem
it's very consistent. Does it every time in the same damn spot. It plays the audio wave back just a hair bit early.
It doesn't do it with MIDI, instrument tracks, or Rewire. If I record a software synth in realtime, it plays back fine. It only plays back too early when recording from the built-in audio jack on the back of my G5.
Just so you clearly understand:
Say you want to add a bass guitar to a drum loop you just imported into DP. While your recording your bass line live, everything sounds fine and perfectly on beat. When your finished recording and begin to play everything back, the bass line is playing slightly ahead of the drum loop. Sure, it's easy to fix by just dragging the wave over a little to sync up, but you shouldn't have to do that every damn time.

Re: Audio playback problem
I'm having this same problem currently...
It might be a buffer size issue, I think. I'm doing overdub tracking and my buffer size is set large (1024). Is this too big, and what's small enough to make recording latency as close to zero as is possible?
I'm going to test my theory and get back to you.

Re: Audio playback problem
Well, I've determined that it is NOT the buffer size. It's the same right down to a buffer size of 64.
