Hi Steven, Have you ever found a solution to your clocking problem with Multiple 828's? I just started having problems once in a while with my second unit. (Using Sonar as well) I did blow money on a big ben this weekend, and it still didn't help. Did you ever get anywhere with this? Thanks, Ron No...

I did some stress tests with the new drivers last night and I think they perform better than the previous ones. The slave unit seems to be able to keep in sync where before the sample rate would blink and the audio would go silent or have bleeps. Quality firewire cables. SP2 patch and registry hack ...

You cannot control individual outputs with QueMix (you can't do this with an M-Audio delta 1010's control panel, either). I have my surround's connected directly as well, but they have to be controlled by my playback system (SONAR, Vegas, etc). Further, MOTU drivers do not support surround control v...

I use two mkII's with my Dell laptop for live gigs. Use the Audio panel to set the master's clock to internal. The other unit will slave automatically. In fact, that is what I dislike about these units. I bought a master word clock but was unable to use it on both units because MOTU does not allow y...

You are mixing terms. Firmware is different than a device driver. Which is it you are trying to update? I just installed the new drivers last night and they seem to perform better than the previous ones. You should be able to install the downloaded drivers on a machine that has never had the CD base...

If I knew then what I know now I would not have purchased my 828mkII's. (only firewire was available at the time).

Note how they have not updated the firmware or drivers in over a year even though many problems have been reported.

Have you noticed whether or not the sample rate indicator blinks when the audio goes silent?

These drivers work fine* under Windows XP SP2.

I run them on two separate systems (desktop and laptop).

I got a two port PCMIA card from them.

[quote="joscho"] do you think i should not sync to word clock? quote] It is pointless to attempt to sync a MOTU 828mkII to word clock. The slave syncs to the master internally (they are both connected via firewire). I spent several days with an Antelope Audio word clock generator and could...

828mkII Losing Sync: Possible Solution

Symptom: the slave unit's sample rate indicator flashes and the audio goes silent and/or bleeps are produced. The main thing I am doing different is to wait until the computer is fully booted up before adding the MOTU units, the firewire controller or the external hard drive. I used to have all of t...

when I installed my drivers today both of the WDM and the ASIO check boxes was checked by default in the installation choices dialog box.

There is no separate ASIO installation.

Count me in on another vote for Unibrain products.

I was amazed at how much better my laptop is doing with their PCMIA firewire interface for my two 828mkII's.

Yeah, these things do not sync well together.
I've wasted a lot of time (and money) on this with the only solution left being to sell them on eBay and move on.
