asio drivers missing after new 828 driver update

Post by tekara »

i've searched for this on the forum and read all the problems related to this, but still cant seem to fix it!

Any ways on how to fix this?

Windows XP SP2
Latest MOtu 828 3.4.3 drivers....

i noticed that when i unzipped the files of the driver, there was the 'main' setup.exe file and other setup.exe files in other folders. I have yet to install the other setup.exe files in the folders as i assumed that using the original setup.exe in the root directory will automatically setup the other drivers in the other folders. Is this the case? Is this why i cant find Motu 828 asio drivers for my cubase sx3?

Right now i hear no audio coming from motu and its starting to frustrate me

thanks so much!!

when I installed my drivers today both of the WDM and the ASIO check boxes was checked by default in the installation choices dialog box.

There is no separate ASIO installation.

I've been having the same problem after buying a new computer. Whatever i do, the ASIO drivers will not work. Cuemix also does not load.

I thought at first it was dodgy drivers or that my unit had just gone bad, but i tested it on my old computer (which was very unstable) and it still worked. The old computer has a VIA firewire chip, the new a texas instruments chip (what the hell...)

Anyway, after a lengthy process of elimination (and not much help from tech support i'm sorry to say - guess what, switching the voltage DIDNT do anything - funny about that) i think i've narrowed it down to having SP 2 installed. I tried the firewire hotfix and that completely ruined things with the 828 not even being recognised AT ALL. Nice fix, microsoft.

So the major difference between my old and new computer is the respective service packs. I've just formatted my hard drive and am installing XP Pro w/ SP1. Goddammit this better work or i'm selling this thing (the 828, that is, not the computer). If you've just installed the patch for SP 2 onto the existing copy of windows it will be easy enough to remove but if you've got an OEM version its a little more difficult. You need a new version of windows with SP 1 but microsoft do not sell it anymore. Bloody hell, microsoft cant be too upset about piracy if this •••• is gonna happen. They're so-called "upgrades" are free, but how are you meant to downgrade? I'm kinda of the opinion that if it aint actually broke (but just a little mischevious), dont fix it. I have a theory that Microsoft are actually from a parallel universe which is governed by the idea that progress is supposed to move in a backwards fashion. Updates, therefore, are actually "downdates" and their goal is to make their product progressively worse until it is shunned out of existence by disgruntled users. Well, its still just a working theory...

Anyway, will let u know if this actually works. If you dont hear from me, then i may have sold my studio in frustration and gone off to get a job as an advertising executive in a bid to lead a pointless existence...

These drivers work fine* under Windows XP SP2.

I run them on two separate systems (desktop and laptop).

*Once you install the patch, tweak the registry and bring everything up in the correct order...

Only tweak the registry if you know what you're doing. Many people have reported issues with SP 2 and there seems to be some serious firewire stability issues. Microsoft have basically acknowledged this with their hotfixes.

Problems with Apple, too

I can't be sure but since I installed this new driver for Mac OSX/universal Cubase SX3 does not recognize the 828 mkII hardware. Maybe some ASIO thing. DP4, Reason, Live all have no trouble with 828 mkII in core audio. Very frustrating...
