Cuemix problem

Post by muppetmin »

I just updated the firmware in my Traveller, updated the software to the latest and all works fine on my laptop, 100% happy, the reason for the update really was that my new Dual core Desktop PC would not run cuemix, smpte console or the audio set up console either, Adobe Audition would not see the analog channels as seperate only as one big one, so I did the updates and now the audio console works, Audition see's seperate channels but not 100% of the time, cue mix and the smpte console won't run as an error comes up saying the device is plugged into a bus that can not sustain the bit rate (I'll check the exact wording when I am in the studio later), I also found that Premiere Pro will not run with the Traveller under ASIO, it does work fine on my laptop, is this a Firewire issue with the new desktop ? Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks

Well if anyone gets these issues then it was a problem with the onboard 1394a, I installed a firewire card into a spare pci slot and hey presto, no issues, both 1394a chipsets were interestingly Texas instruments and no other device has had a problem with the onboard 1394a chipset.

All solved, happy bunny again.

motu smpte hell

Post by mon »

On Mac OSX 10.4.5 SMPTE Console will not start and gives message "no PCI card" or something like that. (I am using the 828mkII via firewire) but the App SMPTE Setup will run. I get no SMPTE lock up to DP4.61 though I see the little lights trying. Could part of the problem the low SMPTE signal output from the 828mkII? I used to have no SMPTE problems with Classic Macs and MTP II and AV. Or even back with Commodores and Ataris and other odd synchronizers.

I am going to reinstall all my software tonight and try again...

SMPTE update -
After trashing all MOTU 828mkII prefs and apps (CueMix, SMPTE Setup and Firewire Console) and reinstalling from the CD (v.1.2.5) and updating to (1.4.1) the SMPTE with DP 4.61, as well as the audio, is working.

Two remarks:
When I turn the 828mkII on I still get the message "Firmware upgrade 1.01" and the machine locks up. Then I need to switch the machine on and off a few times to get it in a ready state (with the little mix levels) before the computer will see it.

In the manual it mentions that as of Mac OS v.10.2.8 SMPTE is not implemented for other applications (Cubase). I am using 10.4.5 with the new drivers and Cubase SX3, while audio is working fine, does not read SMPTE from the 828mkII.

So the 828mkII has semi-smpte or sortasmpte implementation...
