Re: Editing middev and midnam files in OSX 10.9.1 (Maveriks)

Arg! :banghead: Discovered the problem I was having with editing middev and midnam files. It turns out that TextEdit (the text editor on Mac) automatically attempts to alter the ASCII character for a double-quote (0x22) when typed from the keyboard to some other character. The other character displa...

Re: Editing middev and midnam files in OSX 10.9.1 (Maveriks)

Thanks again NazRat for all of your help. :D There is a stand along middev file: (HD)/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU/Ensoniq/Ensoniq.middev The patch file I'm trying to edit is: (HD)/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU/Ensoniq/SQ-1+,2,R+.midnam which contains the patch definitions for my device (Ensoni...

Re: Editing middev and midnam files in OSX 10.9.1 (Maveriks)

Thanks NazRat Now I understand why I can't run CherryPicker under Mavericks. I do have both middev and midnam files for my device. This is what I've tried so far along with the results I've seen: 1) I've tried to add a new device to the Ensoniq middev file by copying and pasting one of the existing ...

Editing middev and midnam files in OSX 10.9.1 (Maveriks)

Hi all: How can I edit the MIDI patch names for my external MIDI systems in OSX 10.9.1 (Mavericks)? I'm using DP 7.24. CherryPicker does not seem to work for Intel-based MACs (at least this is a warning I get each time I attempt to install CherryPicker). :?: I've attempted editing the XML file...

Mountain Lion Behavior Anyone?

Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm running DP 7.24. Under Lion, DP ran very nicely. However, under Mountain Lion everything seems to be delayed. For example, when I click the play icon DP waits at least 2 to 3 seconds before actually beginning playback. The same happens when I click stop ...

Re: DP 7 won't start following install.

I think old age is finally taking over. :sorry: This is the entire reason I ordered DP 7 so that I could download the Lion update and have DP run under Lion. Well, thanks Gravity & James for helping me remember that I needed to download the update. DP is now running normal again. :D Thank...

DP 7 won't start following install. RESOLVED

Just received DP 7.22. I'm running OS X Lion 10.7.1. Installation worked well. However, when I start DP 7 for the first time after installing I'm presented with a dialog asking for my name and the key-code in the back of the user manual. When I enter this info, my system accesses the install disc fo...

OS X Lion

I'm currently running DP 6.03. I'd like to upgrade to OS X Lion but need to upgrade to DP 7.24 to do this but don't believe I can upgrade directly from 6.03 to 7.24. I see that there are versions 7.0, 7.1 and 7.2 available. Do I need to upgrade to 7.0 then 7.1 and then 7.2 or can I just upgrade dire...

Re: Quick Scribe Oddness

Well, that did it.

It was indeed a font issue.
I wasn't aware that there were updates to DP (6.02 and 6.03).

I just needed to update to these two versions (thanks spire10 for the clue). :woohoo:

Thanks again everyone for your help!!!

Re: Quick Scribe Oddness

Thanks all for your responses. Unfortunately, I'm still not getting invalid characters. :banghead: I've tried the following: 1) Updated to latest OSX (10.6.7) 2) Removed all/any Quickscribe file from either font folder (/library/fonts & /username/library/fonts). 3) Verified QuickscribeX exists i...

Quick Scribe Oddness

I'm using DP6. Whenever I choose Quick Scribe the graphics being used to represent everything in the view are all goofed up. There are symbols like OE, ?, etc. (I wish I could attach a screen capture to show you what I'm seeing). There are no actual notes, just a bunch of weird symbols. :banghead: I...

Thanks again MIDI,

I've never heard of Unisyn before. How does this app differ from CherryPicker?

Thanks

Re: Where does DP6 get this info?

Ok, I think I'm beginning to understand this whole thing a little better. :D After a little file-peeking, it appears that the definitions for the Ensoniq devices are nested in that there are several device definitions contained in one file that is not necessarily named for the devices they define. I...

Re: Where does DP6 get this info?

Thanks MIDI and Dave :) I guess my confusion exists when I began to peruse the Library/Audio/MIDI Devices folder. In DP6, if I choose, for example in my case, SQ-2-1 (Ensoniq SQ-2 Channel 1), and then click on the DEFAULT PATCH column, I'm accurately presented with all of the available patches for m...
