Maybe I am being a bit too cynical!!
Hopefully it'll all be OK.
I had a real issue when I had my old G5 Mac - the drivers didn't work for ages with 10.5 - finally it was fixed and I haven't had a problem since - or with my new iMac - so I retract my cynicism!!! and wait in hope
Hi, I have an Intel iMac and an 828mk2 USB. I connected a Roland TD12 to the MIDI in/out ports on the 828 but can get Cubase 5 to record any MIDI events. The 828 ports are seen in the Audio MIDI setup on OSX and the TD12 works fine if i connect it to my existing Midisport 4x4 (so I know it's working...
Hi, Not sure if anyone else has picked up on this but the new 1.4.8 drivers (well, new in June) along with the lastest Apple security update seem to fix the issue with the USB 828MkII not working on PPC Macs running 10.5 Leopard. Everything looking good now on 10.5 - (not sure if it was the security...
Yes... it's the PPC/G5 + 1.4.7 driver combination that does not work.
Intel Macs of any flavour work fine.
Don't think we will ever see a fix for this. Even Apple are dropping PPC support in Snow Leopard (the next major OS upgrade).

Here's the log dump.... The relevant bit (I think) is in bold and red[ /b] MOTU.... Please fix this.. there are plenty of PPC/G5 people upgrading to Leopard now.... Thanks....... I even tried a Vanilla (completely new) install of Leopard on my Mac with the only other non-Apple software being the MOTU 1.4.7 driver. It still wouldn't play a song in iTunes.
Believe me.. I've tried every combination of connections including disconnecting every USB device except the keyboard/mouse and the 828. I then tried it on every USB port (front and back) with a restart and even a re-install of the driver on every port.. It's very simple. The 1.4.7 driver does NOT w...
They won't fix it. I had a 'technical request' in for ages and nothing happened. I have to boot onto another partition on my Mac which is running 10.4 to do recording stuff, or even listen to iTunes. It sucks but I'm pretty sure they have made up their minds that they won't be fixing this. It explai...
I'm pretty fed up really that MOTU aren't supporting the 828USB on G5 PPC Macs. I think there has been a conscious decision to abandon the PPC Macs. I have to boot onto another 10.4.11 partition to do any audio work. I will only be able to do this until Cubase SX is supported on 10.4 then I guess I ...
Still no luck here.
I have a tech thing going with MOTU but seems to have fizzled out now.
I guess legacy support isn't a big issue for them.
Verdict.... sucks if you have a G5 or G4 and want to run Leopard...
Don't go there.....
I have a call logged with MOTU for this. I've been through a fair bit of testing now, including: Installing 10.5 onto a separate partition with no other software and then installing the MOTU drivers. Still no good. I made sure that the 828MkII usb was plugged directly into the Mac (not a hub) etc.. ...
