Motu 828 mk2 no sound with Leopard OSX despite driver update

Hi
I've just updated my G5 PPC to OSX 10.5 and updated Motu Audio & MIDI driver to 1.4 (off motu site) and have no sound out of motu 828 mk2 USB 2.0 card. (iTunes wont even play unless I switch to built in audio).

Also Cumix consol shows all mix outputs as "disabled" and cannot be enabled .

Also got a "unable to launch MIDI server" in Core Audiomidi but fixed this by throwing MIDI drivers out of MIDI devices in Library.

Motu card still works fine off back up partition running OSX 10.4.

Anyone else had issues upgrading to Leopard?

If you're using OS X 10.5, you need driver v1.4.6 or higher.

where you get the driver updates from? got a direct link to the actual page? i was having difficulty finding what i wanted on the MOTU site.

am registered with moto - have driver 1.4.6 already - tried re-install of driver -still no sound no working counsol - sure it's operator error - just cant figure it.

I just noticed that version 1.4.7 is on MOTU's website for download.

download universal audio install 1.4.7 from the above linked page.

1.4.6 did not work with osx 10.5.2 at all on G5 ppc macs.
haven't tried 1.4.7 yet.. has anyone????

828 mk2 firewire card works fine with leopard and driver 1.4.7
828 mk2 USB 2 does not work with this config

just plugged my firewire 828 mk2 instead of the 828 mk 2 USB 2 and have sound back in studio.

I'm pretty fed up really that MOTU aren't supporting the 828USB on G5 PPC Macs. I think there has been a conscious decision to abandon the PPC Macs.

I have to boot onto another 10.4.11 partition to do any audio work. I will only be able to do this until Cubase SX is supported on 10.4 then I guess I have to buy a new Mac.

I had this same issue with my PPC G5 running Leopard and the USB 2.0 version of the 828mkII. I have been in frequent contact with MOTU tech support regarding this issue and they are now working on a fix as they were only recently able to replicate the issue on another PPC Mac. I will keep everyone posted on the resolution.

I tried a beta version of the newest driver (1.4.8b1) and this resolved the problem I was having with my PPC Mac and the USB 2.0 version of the 828mkII. I'm not sure when the new driver will be released but this one should hold me over until then. If anyone else is still having this issue, give MOTU tech support a call as I found them to be extremely helpful.
