mach five & ableton live
I'm trying to figure out how to run mach five as an instrument in Ableton Live.
Step 2 of the instructions on MOTU's site says "Add MachFive, MX4, MOTU Symphonic Instrument, or MOTU Ethno Instrument to a MIDI track."
What does this actually mean? How do I add MachFive to a Live MIDI track?

Great sounds. I noticed on the demo video that adjusting for latency was mentioned as a way to tighten up the responsiveness of the instrument. Excuse the basic question, but where is latency set? In DP, on the controller, or somewhere in between? I'm using an M-Audio Axiom 61 as my controller. Any ...

OS 10.4.9 problem w/ dual screens
With all the positive reports about the latest OS, I thought I should start a new thread with this. I was working happily with 5.11 on a Mac Pro using two screens. Now, with the latest OS, I'm unable to drag DP windows all the way over to the second screen. Particularly annoying with virtual instrum...

Markers 101
Why don't markers behave the way I'd like them to? What I'd like to be able to do: - While a track is playing, hit a key to add a marker - After stopping, drag the marker to a new position - Double-click on the marker to name it or add a comment This all seems doable in DP, but the execution is very...

Thanks for the suggestions. Pulling out my trusty old Roland D50, I finally figured out that the problem is that the SP88 controller and the PM aren't getting along. The D50 works fine! It must be something in the nature of the MIDI signal sent out by the Kurzweil. By the way, in troubleshooting thi...

Thanks for the responses. Mr. C - yes, I had (by chance) done the MIDI setup correctly in the AudioMidi setup utility, and things still weren't working. One takeaway from this is that another way to go would be to add a USB MIDI interface directly to the computer and manage the ins and outs to DP th...

ProjectMix, MIDI, and DP 5.1
I'm running DP 5.1 on a Mac Pro, using a ProjectMix as my control surface. Trying to move to a mixerless studio from a mixer-based, tape-based, old-school MIDI setup. On the audio side, everything's working fine. But I'm having problems getting the MIDI interface on the ProjectMix to work. In the Ap...

virtual instrument installation
I'm trying to use Battery 3 from Native Instruments as a DP plugin, running on a Mac Pro. I'm having problems. After installing the B3 on my computer, I fired up DP 5.1. It tried doing the "one time only" AU check on B3, but then stopped because I was supposed to register it before trying ...

new macbook pros
I'm considering buying one of the new MacBook Pros for DP audio work. My question is whether the speed of the internal hard drive is important or not. For the new machines, Apple seems to have dropped the option of adding a 7200 RPM drive (or at least made it only available on the 17-inch version). ...

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm finally getting the audio portion of ProjectMix working. The lack of a good MIDI implementation is disappointing. How are people working with MIDI in conjunction with ProjectMix? Without a MIDI thru on the ProMix, it doesn't seem possible to drive external modules. S...
