OS 10.4.9 problem w/ dual screens

Post by tom24569 »

With all the positive reports about the latest OS, I thought I should start a new thread with this. I was working happily with 5.11 on a Mac Pro using two screens. Now, with the latest OS, I'm unable to drag DP windows all the way over to the second screen. Particularly annoying with virtual instruments.

Anyone else experiencing this? I've gotten very dependent on the full use of a second screen!

I have no problems with screens but DP's been acting funny this morning for the first time in several months. I don't want to be pessimistic but 10.4.9 totally ruined another app I use A LOT named Controller Mate. :?

Shooshie and the monkey chuckle.

Sorry. We're sitting back and enjoying the show.
Thankfully you mavericks'll stumble across any shortcomings for us.
Thankfully for us, that is.

Funny, I'd have thought that being the final incarnation before Leopard would mean 10.4.9 would be a ripper.
I wonder who's fault this one is?

Hope you get this sorted, tom24569 and Dwetmaster!

I saw this after the 10.4.9 update had downloaded & installed, but before I restarted. After a restart it was all good.

Try disconnecting the second monitor, open System Prefs > Displays, hit Detect Displays so it recognizes only one monitor, then reconnect the second one and Detect Displays again.

Using two 19" Viewsonics and they work fine in all apps. You might check your "arrangement" panel in Sys Prefs to be sure they didn't just get moved around.

BTW, why is everyone using the DP section to kick OS X.4.9 around? Shouldn't this all be in the Macintoish section? Personally, I don't care as I tend to just browse the areas of interest, but the threads are really more OS related than just DP related.

Somehow the "You're Right" thread's survived 12 pages in the DP section.
It's hilarious to me that you'd be hard-pressed to go much further OT, yet it survives.

Oh well, if Gorilla-boy and the monkey were moderating, we'd have shifted all three threads (OSX 10.4.9 x 2 and "You're Right").

Actually if WE were moderating, everyone would have moved to Logic or back to SV Pro a long time ago.

Ha!

No kidding. We might even have scared 'em right off the 'net and back to the ol' ATARI STe.
If they survived the encounter, that is.

Hey Tom

Not sure if this is the same issue but I lost my second display when I recently went from 10.4.6 to 10.4.8. The big difference is that I never became dependant on the second screen as it was the one being replaced with the new LCD. Then I thought, what the heck I'll run both. Only worked until the upgrade.

Did you upgrade from 10.4.8 or an earlier version?

.Bzz...

edit: The BIG difference is that the monitor doesn't turn on at all (isn't recognized by OSX), not what I mentioned previously.

boy ... I can sure be thrown off track by beer!

FWIW - I'm running dual monitors with 10.4.9. No problems.

OK - all is well.

A restart did the trick. Thanks for the other suggestions.
