Re: Performer, not Digital Performer

Hi, and thanks for the info. I'll try re-installing FreeMidi (I sometimes call it "Free Willy.") And, of course, you're correct about the QT. I've ended up using both for different instruments. I'm working with a large group (orchestral), and have found it rarely happens when only a few tr...

Performer, not Digital Performer

Hi - Wasn't sure where this question belongs, so here goes. I'm working on an older G4 Tower running at 867 with 1.5 Gig of Ram and using Mac OS 9.2.2. The two programs I used exclusively on this computer are Performer 6 (not Digital Performer) and Composer Mosaic, MOTU's notation software. This lat...

Mac OS 9.2.2 Quicktime Question

Hi - I've purchased a used G4 tower with 1.5 Gig of ram, 867 Mhz, running 9.2.2. Got it from a great store here in the Northwest, Powermax, Portland, OR. I'm only using the OS 9.2.2 side for music programs, but I can't access the Quicktime music instruments. I'm using "FreeMidi," a program...

PDF Question

Hey, all - I've just purchased a great new iMac. However, I've got an iBook with lots of Composer Mosaic arrangements. I want to turn them into PDF files. Even though I thought I had the software to accomplish this, it never seems to work. What am I doing wrong? Is there a special process I haven't ...

Getting Digital sound into iMac

Hi - I've got an old Tascam Dat tape unit. I want to down-load songs onto my new iMac Core. I bought a coax. cable with two RCA males. No problem with the DAT "digital out" but can I just add a mini plug converter to the other end and plug it into the iMac?

Scanning Music

Hi-'ve got lots of letter & legal sized 110 lb card stock original parts & scores I want to sell as PDF files online. I need to import these us to my iMac Intel Core Duo, saving them, of course, as PDF files. I've seen the Fujitsu SCANSNAP for the Intel Mac. Has anyone had any experience usi...

New guy - Old Fastlane Problem

Hi-read all the stuff about the Fastlane driver back in July of last year. I've got the iMac Core Duo and am trying to hook up my keyboard and sound module via this little device. Downloaded the "new" driver. Tried every configuration; cables, deleting from System>Library> etc suggested by...

PDF Question

Hi to all-I've got a new iMac Intel Core Duo-love it!!! I want to scan lots of sheet music (both letter and legal) and put them into PDF files. I was checking the Fujitsu Scanner for Macs. Looks great; fast, copies both sides, etc. HOWEVER, is it compatible with the Mac Intel chip? Thanks in advance...

The notes stick with I used Performer 6.2 running on Mac OS 9.2 in my iBook G3. Since posting, I've upgraded to an iMac G5 Core Duo and have ordered DP 5.1. I'm hopeful this will solve the stuck note problem. My main concern, however, is the end result. I hope to make MP3 or similar out of these MID...

Stuck notes on Fastlane

Probably an old question, but... I'm pushing large amounts of MIDI data through a Fastlane into a Kurzweil 2500R. When more than 4 or 5 tracks are going, far less than the 16 I need, I always get stuck notes. Would a firewire interface be the solution? I'm planning on recording the sound or saving i...

What's Wrong With This Picture?

I've got my iBook hooked up to my Kurz 2500R. I'm running Performer (yes, Performer, not DP), on OS 9.2. I'm able to get a good mix coming out of the audio outs of the Kurz. Presently, due to my limited knowledge and gear, I've been burning a MIDI of each example and taking it to a small but friendl...

Hi- Very nice job on the 1st movement. The stereo helps alot. However, in my opinion (and opinions are all subjective!), I get better sounds on everything except strings from my Kurzweil 2500R. Being a pops symphony conductor, I'm really picky, though. What I'm missing in this example are really goo...

Fastlane with Kurzweil 2500 problem

Hi-I've posted this question before, but am still trying to figure out the problem. I've got a 2001 iBook with 256 RAM running OS 9.2. I've got a new MOTU Fastlane MIDI USB interface hooked up to a K 2500R with the new system installed. On large symphonic sequences, I always get "stuck" no...

Hi, and thanks for the advice. I think I've got the latest OS, 9.2.1. There could be a later one, possibly. Of course, all of these problems could be solved by simply updating my entire system; it's only money afterall. And I'd be willing to do that except for one program I rely on, MOTU's Composer ...

Regarding my system and the need for more Ram: presently, I'm on OS 9.2. With my older AC-powered Opcode serial interface, a 400 Hz Mac "wanabe," and 64 of Ram (!), these same sequences never ever "hung" up. So, more Ram probably isn't the solution, though more Ram is never a bad...
