Hi-I've posted this question before, but am still trying to figure out the problem. I've got a 2001 iBook with 256 RAM running OS 9.2. I've got a new MOTU Fastlane MIDI USB interface hooked up to a K 2500R with the new system installed. On large symphonic sequences, I always get "stuck" notes when I run Performer (not DP) 6.2. Because of my OS, I tried FreeMidi (which I refer to as "Free Willie") 1.42 and 1.38. I get the same problem using both of these drivers. I'm frustratred since this never happen with an older serial system I had: opcode 2 in 1 out hooked to a old Mac 400 Hz wan-na-be with only 64 RAM. I thought at first it might me the iBook working too hard running all of the MIDI data back and forth plus powering the interface. However, my wife (bless her) suggested it might be the newer system (3. something) that I had installed on the Kurzweil 2500R. I downloaded this new system from the Kurzweil site plus a smaller download they said was necessary to accomate the newer system. Is this the problem? Could I just re-install the older system on the Kurzweil to check? Help and thanks in advance for any infor.

Fastlane with Kurzweil 2500 problem
Using iMac G5 20" Core Duo, OS 10.4.2, 1.5 Gig RAM, Fastlane USB MIDI Interface, Kurzweil 2500R, Yamaha P-80 Keyboard, Finale 2007, DP 5.1 and years of musical experience!!!
Well, I've never been happy with USB MIDI interfaces. I believe we gave up a good deal of tightness and stability leaving the old serial interfaces. (The Studio 3 is still the most reliable interface I've ever owned.)
On the other hand, I have found that Kurzweils seem to be more prone to MIDI weirdness than other synths when pushed hard. Are you by any chance sending MTC to the Kurz? This can cause other problems if the internal sequencer receives a start message.
You are not alone. I have stuck notes on a weekly basis with my MTPav and a room full of twenty synths. Nine times out of ten, it's the K2500rs that's stuck.
good luck,
Wayne

DP 5.13, Reason 5, Logic 9, Melodyne 3, Live 7, Cubase 4.5, OS 10.5.8 on main desktop, 10.6.3 on laptop. Old analog gear, synths and guitars and heat-belching transformers and tubes.
