1-try with another firewire cable ( a short one)
2-look at the chipset on your firewire card , must be Texas Instrument. If not , buy a PCMCIA with TI chipset.
3-disable all that you don't really need in Windows...

OR

try with another interface or buy a Mac

Long time ago, i've made a test between DP end PT using a Digi 001 and the result was that both DAW was playing the same files a different way. DP was more open in the highs (maybe harsh) and more dynamic. PT was more like a pumping compressor with more bass and less dynamic. Of course, i was not ab...

Slave DP to an ADAT with adat sync and speed up the ADAT until the computer will not follow, then you know your limit... It's the best way i've found to change speed with an analogue feel with digital .Of course it will change the pitch of the song (you change the speed of the ADAT by changing his pi...

The best way is to use Spark and his Batch Convertor to create 16/44,1 audio.I have made a lot of A/B test for this kind of conversion. You will loose some quality with Spark(with best quality mode and Ultra noise shaping)but not as much than with DP.Barbabatch(Audioease)is fine too, but for everyon...

With PT,you need digitranslator to open AND to save session in OMF format. 500$ for Digi...or you install PT LE on a machine for the first time and you can try digitranslator for 1 month(enough for a one shot) The best is to use endembed format(=audio inside omf file) and to try different settings t...

You can handle 24 bit format in OMF but you have to uncheck OMF 1 compatibility use only OMF 2. Then you need OMF 2(digitranslator) to open the file in Protools. In PT 6 , digitranslator is inside PT but you need to pay 500$ to get it work(or you have 30 days to try with a fresh install..) OMF 1 too...

Re: DP vs Nuendo

The "secret page" only talks about the way it sounds when you change the sample rate of a soundbite. Not about the way the DAW reads the audio. I'm sure you can hear differences when you play a song with different softwares. By the way, after a lot of testing,i've found that the "old&qu...

Re: Sound Quality in DP

One thing i'm sure is that the Bounce will alterate the sound.Try to record in real time via internal bus to a fresh stereo track and then A/B the bounce and record version.I've made the test with DP.The record version is better,no hesitation. About difference PT and DP,i've tried with a 001 and a 0...

Re: vari-speed in DP

I have done that by slaving DP to a Adat(with Adat sync) and changing the pitch in the Adat.It was an accident but it works, if you don't ask too much...or the computer will go mad. I think it's the same with a smpte sync with a analogue tape, because the speed of the tape is not so regular,so the co...

Re: G5 DUAL 1;8 AND UAD-1

Even if it's a pci inside the dual 1,8Gh,the size is like a pci-x,so i had to change my 424 for a new one(thanks to motu it was free of charge) But from a 324,i think you'll have to buy a 424. It's not expensive and your old card will work. I use a 24 I/O and a 2408mk1 with the latest 424 without tr...

Re: Dual 867 Questions

I have a dual 867 and it works well(no instruments used).
Only 2 big problems:the noise(original fans)and the combo drive that works only with Spark to burn audio cd-r.With other softs ,if you use disc-at-once,all tracks after number 8 will appear as one track in a cd player...
