Re: Sonnet G4 upgrade for B&W G3?

I just upgraded my old 9600 with the Sonnet G4 800 (not 1GHz!) and it is quite simple. But you had to download a freeware called XPostFacto to get that old horse to recognize OSX... So far, I'm running 10.2.8 (as far as I cacn go) a PCI-324, DP 4.12 and very few VIs, I must admit. But the system see...

Re: Anybody doing MIDI/LAN networking?

Hi guys, I'm no expert, but I'm using MIDIoverlan CP which works great for me. It can network pcs and macs together and it is very simple to use. My suggestion is to try it since it is also very cheap.

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Advice to everyone Try installing MIDI over lan CP (really cheap). It seems to be more stable than "traditionnal" MIDI. I have had fewer problems with it than with the "damned" apple audiomidi setup. It's worth trying if you are tired of also seeing your interfaces disappear from...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Hey Mark, hold on! Your system looks pretty similar to mine (descirbed somewhere in this forum). My first suggestion to you is to try to bypass (as much as posssible, for now) the MOTU intefaces by using MIDI OverLanCP (runs easily for XP and OS 10.3.X). It will allow you to do the same MIDI distrib...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Hi to all After having completed a whole score for a movie in DP 4.12 with a pretty extensive MIDI track count (200) I found that the problem is strangely frequent at certain times. I would get the problem at a definite point in the movie (since I'm working with video inside DP). No too often (durin...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

I meant MIDI Xpress and it should not make any difference. Again, this may (I hope) or may not (...) be a clocking problem since all of us here have had more or less the same problem on; 1. Different versions on DP (back to 2.x ...) 2. Different OS (Back in the old golden days of OS 8 and the lattte...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Chaim,

could be the usb 2.0 port of the G5 since the MTP AV is 1.0 protocol.

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Tripit, I've had the same problem with my 3 MTP AV connected to a McAlly 3 port usb (1.0) hub. Did the same as you, unplugged than plugged again. This may be due to the non-powered hub though. I suggest you give it AC to see what it does. Usb is not very reliable anyway, and we're stuck with it! For...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Dan, I did try your medium priority with dp 4.5 but as I wrote too before, it did not change a thing for me. (I wish it did though) I also wanted to make my point clear about usb hubs: I meant to say do NOT hook the MTP AV to ANY usb 2.0 ports on ANY device (Maybe it works with the G5, i don't know)...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Hey Tony I'm in the process of buying a nanosync rosendahl generator to better audio clock all my machines and I don't really forsee a change with the MIDI bug we're experiencing. But on second thought, why not try it. Audio is sometimes heavy on the CPU but MIDI, come on! 8 little bits to handle is...

Re: MIDI Notes Sticking with 4.5

Had the same problems but every minute! Reverted to 4.12 and now almost everything is fine. (I still get some notes sticking from time to time and it did not happened before in 4.12.) Also, I found that the memory handling of my virtual synths was crappy compared to 4.12. I have an army at my finger...
