clearly, this is an MTPAV usb problem, isn't it? i'm getting the same thing and *real bad*. let's try another MIDI interface and see what happens, just to narrow it down, ok?

It's there with the MIDI Express XT as well.

I've tried all the suggestions and I'm still getting the stuck notes.
I even bought a MIDI Express 128, because I was told my USB MTP AV was the problem.
I'm not running through a hub, I've got my work priority set to medium and 512 buffer.
This didn't happen in 4.12.
Has anybody figured this out?
All is well

I've ditched my prefs so many times I can't rememmber. It doesn't seem like that's the end all solution. It's gotta be a bad MOTU MIDI Driver. The MTP A/V and The MIDI express use the same MIDI driver in OSX. I think they may be crappy. Has anyone tryed a different MIDI interface by another company? I'm saving up to get the Unitor 8 and a Amt by emagic. But I don't want to buy it a find out that my MIDI performance is still ••••. This is a real BIG problem. I hope MOTU is watching this

Hmmm, that's strange, because I was getting it back in 4.12 as well.

It could be, but I solved my problem changing priority on the hardware setup from HIGH to MEDIUM, I've just read that Chaim solved his problem changing something about his mixer. I'm not an engineer-programmer but if the MIDI driver was broken, non of the above trick would fix this behavior.

I imagine your frustration, but before to go out and waste your money on other MIDI interfaces you may don't need, I'll humbly suggest to try "all" the users suggestions that actually fixed the MIDI stack notes problems. It may won't work on your system, but if it works, let me tell you, it's a great feeling being back to "normal".

Now with my CPU up to 60-70% I can record a busy MIDI piano part without any problems, while up to a couple of months ago I couldn't even imagine to do that.

I was getting it in 4.12 as well, usually only with my Gigastudio 160, though occasionally my synths stick.

I did all the recommended stuff when I installed 4.5, repairing permissions before and after installation, removing iSight, installing LAME. I rarely get the COQ, and my stuck notes problem is not very frequent. I have two MTP-AV's, connected directly to my Mac via USB.

I never had the problem when I used my G3 (DP3.11) with the single serial MTP-AV.

Argh, I just realized that my profile didn't update. I've got a G5 OS 10.3.6, 2 MTP-AV's, a 2408 mk. 2, Gigastudio, Reason, Peak, UC-33e, assorted synths.

Hi to all

After having completed a whole score for a movie in DP 4.12 with a pretty extensive MIDI track count (200) I found that the problem is strangely frequent at certain times. I would get the problem at a definite point in the movie (since I'm working with video inside DP). No too often (during the course of my work) but systematically at the same place (within a certain music cue). Also, I,d like to say that for all of you thinking about changing interfaces, this is certainly not a good idea since, as many have pointed out, we did not get the problem (as often at least) with previous versions of DP. Also, to make my point, I'm using MIDI over Lan CP which is a sofware that uses your local network as the MIDI transmitter to the remote stations. In other words I've bypassed my MOTU MIDI interfaces (for now) and I did get the same stuck notes. To me, the problem is all likely to be with the AudioMIDI setup implementation in DP or the whole clocking source of DP. I wrote before that I was going to try and use a external master clock and I'm about to hook it now. We'll see if it helps.

Peace.

WOW! Am I glad I came on to this forum. I really thought that my trusty krusty old Korg M1 was screwing up and would need to be replaced. I never considered that there would be some other sort of problem causing stuck notes. Thanks for sharing all this insight everyone!

I wasn't writing about 'stuck notes'. My problem was bad MIDI timing.

I do get stuck notes as well from time to time, but it doesn't bother me too much.

A friend of mine had timing problems too, and he went back to a previous MIDI driver and all is good now.

Hello All... I'm a longtime MOTU/DP user but I am new to this forum. I have recently been experiencing the "dreaded stuck note problem"... in a fairly debilitating way. (I had to cancel several sessions this week because of it) I have been reading through all of the posts on this subject and have found many of them to be quite interesting. Some of you caught my eye when writing about the "fantasy of upgrading to the G5 to solve your technical problems" Oh .. if only that were the truth. Some good things come.... and some bad things come along with the upgrade. My advice to anyone who has a stable system that meets their work requirements is DON'T CHANGE IT! (Unless you have the time/money/ and desire to sit around and trouble shoot all the problems) I am going to try some of the various ideas and solutions that were suggested here and then report back with the results. The USB 1.0 suggestion sounds promising. My understading is that the G5 is USB 2.0 on the two ports in back, and USB 1.0 on the port in front. I guess this means I should try running the front connector to the MTP AV's. Here is my current system configuration for reference:

G5 (Dual 2Gig-4 GB RAM- OS10.3.5)
DP 4.12
2 MTP AV (Running off a powered hub)
1 MIDI Express USB (Running Direct from the Mac)
2 Micro Lite Interfaces-5x5- Bus Powered on the HUB
(These are new and untested so far
BTW- Does anyone know if the MicroLite Interfaces are supposed to show up in Clockworks? I don't see them in mine)
3 PC's Running the new GigaStudio Orchestra Version 3.0
(Using MidiExpress Parallel Interfaces and Gina Audio Cards)
Mackie D8B Mixing Console (Version 5.1)
MOTU 2408 MK3
MOTU 308
MOTU 24i
Entire system is clocked a Rosendahl Nanosync

Hope we can all figure this problem out sometime soon

I'm glad to be joining in the discussion

Hey Mark, hold on!

Your system looks pretty similar to mine (descirbed somewhere in this forum). My first suggestion to you is to try to bypass (as much as posssible, for now) the MOTU intefaces by using MIDI OverLanCP (runs easily for XP and OS 10.3.X). It will allow you to do the same MIDI distribution at a very low cost and it seems to be somehow more reliable than traditionnal MIDI transmission. I am not saying it is flawless, but it did improve the stuck notes problem for me. My question to you is this tough (cause I have hooked the same master clock as you very recently): Have you been using the nanosync for a while with this setup and does it seem to be performing well? Does it seem to be freeing up the processor enough so all clocking issues (Including MIDI) are more reliable? (Obviously not I guess) If not, since we are trying to pinpoint the source of the problem, the origin of this MIDI mayhem may very well be the code itself in DP (and it's  AudioMIDI panel) Also, are you using any video in DP along with the music? (Just asking if this may also be a source of problem). Last thing, I guess, you are using a lot of MIDI tracks for the different orchestra articulations right? How many? (My track count goes up to 200)

Let us know.
