If you use Logic, you may have to upgrade Mach 5 as well--that is, if you want to use Mach 5 at all in Logic (Logic 8 breaks compatibility with version 1).

As for sounds, don't really use either so can't offer an opinion on your main question.

Maybe try calling MOTU tech support and see if they can issue a temporary license that can work on an available iLok?
