I use Peak to convert to .mp3. Peak is great when you have to batch convert a ton of files like I do for seminars and other corporate work. I haven't used iTunes in a while to rip to .mp3, but there were a lot of options as to the bit rate which equates to size and quality of the file.

Here's the email I got from Presonus... The LT and original 48k DM use 24bit Alesis converters. The Digimax 96k and Digimax FS use higher end AKM's.
