My original comments about plugins in DP5 being inadequate were derived from the fact that in my version, 5.12, neither the MW EQ or the Parametrics appear in the plugins pop-up. It was only after having seen the replies that I became aware of this. I uninstalled all versions of DP5 and reinstalled from scratch, at which point I discovered that they appear in V5.01, but not in any subsequent version. Motu propose that I get a CD version of 5.12, (I downloaded mine from their web), to see if this fixes the problem.
Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix it?
Thanks for the feedback

Okay - after playing around with this (very nice looking) EQ I discovered it can truly be a processor hog. I had 7 audio tracks each with a Wave Arts "TrackPlug" assigned and I thought let's try the MWEQ. I disabled the TrackPlugs EQ and assigned a few MWEQ's in their place. After the 3rd one I started noticing spikes. If I selected the real time analyzer from within the EQ I really had issues. I liked the sound but needed more processing so I fell back to the "Old" DP-EQ (which I believe sounds just as good) and had far less problems. I'm sure I will find a use for the new MWEQ sometime but not in sessions over seven audio tracks.
Only my thoughts,

Hm. Are you running DP on an older box? On my system (listed below), I can run 20 MWEQs without it breaking a sweat. Maybe it's a hardware/software mismatch for you?dpg4macman wrote:Okay - after playing around with this (very nice looking) EQ I discovered it can truly be a processor hog. It's also my opinion that the MWEQ sounds notably smoother than the old parametric EQs, especially when raising frequencies using a high Q.

I use a G4 800 QuickSilver with 1.5gig Ram. DP 4.61. I KNOW I NEED TO UPGRADE.. LOL I really can't complain. I can get around 10 to 12 tracks before I start having issues. I haven't given the EQ a fair shake yet. I have plenty of time to work it all out. I do like the EQ and I will probably use it often. Right at this time I am trying to use less processing so I can max my track count. Buss several tracks to a Aux for processing (compression, etc...) I record as a hobby so large sessions are not so important however the more the merrier - right.
Thanks for the info,

I concur with chrispick. My default template is probably 24 tracks each with MWEQ. I have been using this thing since day one and I love it.chrispick wrote:Hm. Are you running DP on an older box? Make sure you disable the FFT when you don't need it... you may get better mileage.dpg4macman wrote:Okay - after playing around with this (very nice looking) EQ I discovered it can truly be a processor hog.

I use MW eq on almost all tracks. It has the best sounding low/high pass filters to me!! My Waves package can't remove unwanted lows and highs without sounding phasey to me. I do all live recording, so cutting the low end bleed from bass or high end bleed from cymbals is a neccesity. Very surgical for precise eq needs. I do use my Waves for the sound they impart, a kind of "warmth" I like. With a lot of instances of MW eq, I sometimes have to stop play to make a setting change. BUT I am on a G4, 2GB Ram, 1.67 mhz, DP 4.61, 20+tracks, 30+plugins!!
