While we are at it, clippings should also preserve the folder structures.

Aren't you getting pretty close to saving projects, sequences and templates, rather than clippings? And would a clipping preview function be practical given the large number of types of objects and files you can put in a clipping?

If I may, I'd like to add a number to your workaround list:

3. One creates the clippings with the source tracks included (whatever they are), so when you import the clipping, you don't need to worry about the type of track things belong to. Just drag and drop and play, and everything will look the exact same way like when they were created (the source) :D
Interesting. I've gotten "yelled at" vis a vis a warning window. I must explore this further to reap the benefits. Thanks for the extra tip, FM.
FMiguelez wrote: While we are at it, clippings should also preserve the folder structures. As of now, you just get the tracks and contents, but they forget/ignore the folder structures (if they were created like that).
Now, clippings-preserved folder structures would be great since the Folder feature was created long after the clippings feature was.

It's just that I work on a huge project, leave the country for three weeks and come back to it only to sit and stare at the screen going... "Huh? What was I thinking?"... or "What was I drinking????"

Here's another possible hobbidiot workaround:

4. Open the source project. Create a NEW folder with the desired track structure inside of it. Copy the appropriate data into the appropriate tracks (actually duplicating that data in the source project). Use that track folder group (the copy) for the Clipping. Should you ever forget what was what, there'd be no digging through notes to find track order or content. Just open the old project, look at what was "what", then move ahead with the new project and new clipping.

Remember: I used the term hobbitiot!! If given a choice, I will choose what's faster and more reliable every time over anything else.

I like to drag clippings to the chunks window. Once they're in there as chunks I can look them over and collect the stuff that I want and move it to where I need it. I also sometimes drag clippings to the track list a lot since I can never get the data to line up and I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to get. I usually have to go around and delete the extra tracks or sequences at some point but I don't mind.

7.2 Rocks.
Yet there's still, unbelievably, room for improvement!

I'd really like manual time stretching of soundbites to optionally be able to snap to grid (and if possible snap to beats in a chosen target track) like the movement and editing of soundbites does.

I was almost sure to see the word 'mute' in that drop down menu in the MIDI editing window (right click)

I have a couple feature requests.

1) When DP gives the message saying that there's a feedback loop, I would love to have DP show me what's causing the Feedback loop. Occasionally I believe the feedback loop was caused by bad bundles.

2) To have LAME MP3 export settings a stick

3) To have the option to write and store session notes when saving the file.

That's something but far from complete.

I suggested a while ago a markers track feature, where you have multiple columns for different type of markers. So one of them can be "Comment markers"

Yes I've used that in the past. I would like to keep a change log (and to do list) within the file.

I really would like DP to be able to output HD Quicktime Movies through MOTU's own video interfaces.......... I understand they are working on this for a future update.

DP is so great for having multiple movies available that can be synced to incoming timecode.

Cheers

Could use a simple Word or Pages template, and keep it as clipping with the project. Or even document from a basic project management application that would maintain time records, expenses, etc.

Agreed. This works great. Also, recorded notes from your mobile phone work beautifully.
I have a few templates that deal with production notes, hardware used, stuff that sorts out my mess, etc.

The only bad thing about the recorded files is that they are not easily searchable (other than descriptive titles).

Not in front of my system right now, but you can snap to grid when timestretching. Hold down command after you initiate the drag to stretch or compress and it should snap. I can't recall if you have to have the grid on or off, and it's been a few weeks since I fired up DP.

Doesn't it work when you hold CMD while stretching? You need to have snapToGrid enabled...
