you have no idea how pissed i am about this. I just bought the mk2 after christmas, i even called a motu sales rep and asked them if a mk3 was coming out in the near future, he lied to me and said as of right now, we have no plans for a mk3 release of the 828. That was the main reason i went out and got one.

I just called GC and they said they will give me store credit, they also just called Motu, as to when they can ship me the new mk3.
Man i was telling my friend, watch i buy one and they release a mk3.
so pissed.

having taken a few dipped in glass gear wise over the years, I finally learned never to buy gear late nov- january until namm......unless of course it is a professional emergency.dubsr6 wrote:you have no idea how pissed i am about this. good tip, i will always abid by that in the future. On a good note, i called GC they are allowing me to return the mk2 for the mk3, get this...
for the same price, ha. so i am getting the mk 3 for 650.00. He already called the motu rep, only catch is, he said they wont ship till mid feb. so i have to wait. i need to return the mk2 by feb 8th, before my month is up.
i really hope the upgrade in hardware is worth all this nonsense though...
reading the reports it seem like it
I am a happy camper then, just hope i dont have to deal with first generation production bugs:(

many monitors have xlr inputs.dubsr6 wrote:can anyone answer what is the benifit of having the main outs changed to XLR instead of the 1/4 in that the mk2 had?
Is it a better quality sound coming out?
not sure why motu would change that.

Isn't it already possible to route CueMix signal back into DP via "Bounce Back"?pcm wrote:I don't know of this was covered, but I am wondering if it will be possible to RECORD the EQ generated by CuemixDSP. In other words, if one opens an eq within Cuemix on a tracking session, will that eq be recorded? Just for high-pass filters alone, this would be super handy for me.
"New" as of 828mk2.motu wrote:A new "CueMix Bounce Back" feature lets you route one of the four CueMix DSP mixes back to the computer. This allows you to record your entire mix

Yes, I read on the Motu site that u you have the option to record the signal dry (with wet monitoring) or wet.pcm wrote:I don't know of this was covered, but I am wondering if it will be possible to RECORD the EQ generated by CuemixDSP. Her nose was not really a nose at all. It was only a beginning.
This is the way to go far with the signal with less noise .
So , I would say , yes it is a better way .
I even wish there were all the surround outputs like that !

Anybody have one yet? They are in stock in a couple of places.

The MK3
I just picked one up at my local clackamas oregon guitar center for $749. I am curious to see how bad the public beta testing is going to be. The guy was nice enough to extend the return period from 14 days to 30 due to my driver concerns for new interfaces. I hear there are currently 4 main issues people are experiencing intermittently:
1. Outputs are somewhat too hot, requiring serious attenuation of levels for active monitors.
2. Random screeching noises. Seems unrelated to FireWire bus.
3. Issues chaining it with other MOTU devices such as the MKii or traveler.
4. Headphone output is reported to be inseparable from main volume knob.
I am having faith in my first ever MOTU purchase, willing to public beta test it with my brand new 24 inch alum iMac and Logic. I am hoping to see a solid sound quality upgrade compared to my Fast Track Pro. The DDS clock technology looks as promising as JETpll, and nothing in this price range can compete with the features! Expect to hear reports shortly.

Balanced is balanced whether it's coming from an XLR or a 1/4"...Aramis wrote:This is the way to go far with the signal with less noise .
