Thanks for your reply Mike. It seems to be a certain flavor of the h.264 codec. Other QT pictures don't crash things, including older h.264 files(from different sources). Will keep searching out the answer as time permits.
Thanks again.

quicktime crashing DP 7.24
I have the new iMac 27" i7 running OSX-10.8.2 8gig ram. Thunderbolt monitor. If I move the quicktime window to the thunderbolt monitor it instantly crashes DP everytime. No VI's. No other program open. Not a problem in Pro Tools
Thoughts??
Will try the upgrade to 10.8.3
Thanks
Todd

Re: Auto Creating 'New Takes" in MIDI Cycle record?
Assigning to keys seems the best way to overcome this shortcoming. I suppose I'd have to assign 2 keys, one New Take and one Record. Maybe someone from MOTU would chime in and tell us why this might be more difficult to implement than it appears. Or maybe it can be included on a want list. It would ...

Auto Creating 'New Takes" in MIDI Cycle record?
I posted this on the tips board but maybe troubleshooting would yield a response. I'd like to be able to cycle record MIDI and have DP create a new take for each cycle. For the life of me I've scoured the manuals and it suggests this is possible on P39, "you can record successive takes when cyc...

Auto "create new take" in MIDI Cycle Record
I'd like to be able to cycle record MIDI and have DP create a new take for each cycle. For the life of me I've scoured the manuals and it suggests this is possible on P39, "you can record successive takes when cycling" but I've found this only possible with audio, not MIDI tracks. I must b...

File created on later version nonsense
I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled all to no avail. I keep getting a message that "this file was created on a later version of DP and cannot be saved". Installed 5.1, upgraded to 5.11 then 5.12. Uninstalled and trashed anything DP then installed 5.1 again. Same message. Crash log ...

Kontakt as a plugin
Kontakt2 as a plugin won't load impulses into the convolution reverb. Is this a limitation of the plugin and DP or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Lock Audio?
Is there a way to lock audio in place so that no matter what it doesn't get moved by tempo changes etc?
Thanks

Re: Thinking of switching from DP to Logic? Think again!
I use both programs and have been since they came out. Both have pro's and con's. But the con's you picked are just bizarre for such a strong negative response. Too many menu's? (they all have assignable shortcuts). Looks too old? (and DP's non resizable track window is "new"?) My quick ea...
Re: M5 Manual
I bought Mach 5 v1 the first week it came out and it's been sitting in my HD and ilok unused ever since. Now wanting to use it I've not been able to find my manual due to moving home and office. I know this might be a sore point to some (software piracy and all) but where do a I get another manual?...
I forgot this isn't an official forum, my mistake. I've emailed MOTU directly, thanks for the wakeupqo wrote:You might want to contact MOTU if you haven't already.

Re: DIGITAL PERFORMER AND VST PLUGINS, GPO, NI KONTAKT
Could somebody please help me, i am considering crossing the pond and throwing away my PC (that has given me nothing but heartache) and converting over to a PowerMac g5 dual- also i am going to start using digital performer 4.52 but i need to know, does it work with all VST plug-ins or do you need ...
