Re: $3K budget for orchestral samples - any recommendations?

East West Quantum Leap... and get a separate harddrive for it. With a dual 2.7 G5 you shouldnt need to run a seperate computer for what your talking about, just start using it and if you find you need more ram or to spread the samples over more hard drives, add them... it all depends on how intensiv...

I wonder why DP kills ProTools so hard?!!

I have noticed that im getting ridiculously better VI performance in DP than in PT LE. IE, as a bench mark i can get 7-8 Tassman synths into a project on DP, when in PT LE im lucky if i can even get 2 running at the same time! Anyone got any ideas as to why this is? is it an AU/RTAS thing? is it to ...

Re: plugins recommendations?

there are plenty of bundles out there, but companys tend to throw in a few "filler" plugins IE ones that you wont use much and dont really need!!! If you like manipulating i recommend PSP effects pack, but as mentioned above, compression and reverb are the 2 main things you need to DP's li...

Re: 2nd hard drive really necessary for audio?

also the front end of a HD has faster transfer than the back end. IE if you format a drive the first partition will be faster than the second partition. so my main "active projects" drive has a partion and the second part is used of sample storage...

Re: Recording a trio

i find with pianos that it is harder to capture the bass and very easy to capture the cutting high end... I recomend micing up the low strings down the bottom, getting full round bass (even being a little dull), then winding in a little treble with eq... this can really help to create an even, full,...

Re: How can i do a sound replacer type thing with DP 4.52?

doing it by hand is fun!!! ;) at least that way you can make sure the phase is correct, because programs like soundreplacer go for transients, which are not as essestial to be exact as the phase is... the crack is gunna crack if the 2 snares are a few samples different, but if the phase is out, ther...

Re: DP's dynamics

wow, i wasnt expecting this many replies! I was actually asking if anyone else shaired the opinion that the dynamics are based on SSL channel strip... i use a 6048 TR with a G bus at work, a fantastic sounding console. Ive used plenty of software compressors, (PSP, waves, bombfactory, UAD etc) there...

Re: Fave plugins for guitar

here is a bit more info for ya... i use u87's or sm57's for amp mic. in a quad box all 4 speakers will sound different. first up listen for the speaker that you like the sound of most ( I usually go for charractor and cut over fullness or quietness of hum/hiss, but it will different for your taste )...

Re: Fave plugins for guitar

it sounds like you need eq or filters not compression. there isnt too much point to compressing, as a distorted guitar has really flat dynamics, esp rhythm it is usually easer to get a better sound from the amp. try turning down the gain and turning up the treble. its all about the high mids with ro...
