I wonder why DP kills ProTools so hard?!!
I have noticed that im getting ridiculously better VI performance in DP than in PT LE.
IE, as a bench mark i can get 7-8 Tassman synths into a project on DP, when in PT LE im lucky if i can even get 2 running at the same time!
Anyone got any ideas as to why this is? is it an AU/RTAS thing? is it to do with instrument track/aux input? Have i missed something vital in protools all this time?
PB 1.67, 1.5 ram, DP 4.5, PT 6.4, OSX 10.3.8 tassman 4
both sessions 24/48 with no other audio or plugins

Yeah I know what you mean.
Are you using a Mbox interface?
Perhaps crappy USB throughput is part of the problem?
(Just a guess.)

This is part of the reason why I went with a MOTU system over PT. MOTU is 100x's more MIDI and synth friendly. Not to mention, the hardware edges PThd out ever so slightly - imho. :p

Pro Tools LE is far less efficient then DP in terms of CPU power. Try using plugins that are common to both (like Waves), and it becomes evident real fast. Of course if Digi gave LE users as much power as DP does, that would hurt a lot of tdm sales for them.
PTHD kicks both of their asses, but you get what you pay for.
