An old mac OS upgrade question perhaps?
Hello my clever friends, I'm currently running DP 9.52 with VePro 5 on a single powerful MacPro (Mid 2012) with Yosemite (10.10.5). My system is stable enough, but I have a few other reasons for wanting to upgrade the OS. Can anyone suggest the best OS for DP 9.52? I have a clone start-up drive, so ...

Re: Audio file names (labelling)
Thanks for the reply. Yes I guess I could just type in my required name on every track title before I hit record, but I mainly want precise labelling when I print off audio from a orchestra of virtual instruments, and as I am working on a film there will be around 50 individual chunks each with at l...

Audio file names (labelling)
Hello clever people. Can someone please assist? When I print an audio track, I'd like that file to be named more precisely. For example, if my chunk is called "New Tune", and the audio track is labelled 'Violin" I'd like the audio file to be labelled "New Tune- Violin". The ...

Re: CPU performance vs real time performance
Thanks for taking the time to elaborate. All these concepts are quite foreign to me, so any info is very helpful.

Re: CPU performance vs real time performance
Thanks for the replay HC markus.
Did you watch the video? My questions pertained specifically to it. I feel your comments would be better suited to a DP discussion rather than in this general Mac thread.
Yes, I agree. Buffer size is important... as is RAM etc...

CPU performance vs real time performance
Hey my nerdy friends :) I recently watched this video regarding CPU performance vs real time performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUsLLEkswzE It discusses the reasons why a computer with plenty of grunt will still give pops and clicks and gives very clear information for a person like me who...

Re: Studio suggestions (VE Pro/slave machines etc)
One more quick question re: SSDs. Is there are 'real world difference' to be experienced when comparing performance of SSDs in the regular drive bays of a Mac Pro, to connecting them in a PCI port. I was under the impression that the main benefit of an SSD is the speed it can be read, rather than th...

Studio suggestions (VE Pro/slave machines etc)
Hi all, I'm getting to the stage where one machine is JUST coping with my orchestral template. I'm still using regular hard drives, so my first step is to upgrade those to SSDs, but after that, I'm considering a two machine setup. Can anyone offer some suggestions regarding where my money would be b...

Re: Performance issue with tempo changes
Thanks for the replies everyone, and I'll definitely check out the video Terry. FM, yes I have just simplified the density of tempo changes, and it has helped, thanks. Also, I'm now working at the 256 buffer (an obvious tweak yes, but since I was observing performance issues in the most simple of se...

Re: Performance issue with tempo changes
Thanks for the reply. Good work around.
After doing more research, many people switch off "tempo sync' in Kontakt if you are using sounds that don't rely on it. I certainly alleviates the problem.
I'm now wondering whether downgrading Kontakt 5.6.6 to an older version might help.

Performance issue with tempo changes
I'm working on a piece using VEPro and LA scoring strings. Performance is ok, until I put a 'rall' in.
I always get pops and clicks, like I'm suddenly sapping the CPU.
What the heck?
Can anyone assist?
Thanks in advance.

Re: OSX DP 9.12 performance advice/opinions
Thank you all, for your comments.
At the moment I have separated the bigger instruments into different instances of VEPro. I'm gonna go ahead now an delve into VI settings, maybe increase the preload etc.
Lastly, any thoughts about Yosemite 10.10.5 with DP 9.12?
Upgrade or leave it?
