Re: PCIe-424 one of the most solid interfaces for Windows
Nice. I'm interested in your computer specs! I'm getting ready to assemble a pc for using the PCIe card and 2408 mk3 with 3) 24 i/o units. After reading a few posts here I was getting worried about using a windows computer with motu. I have been using mac for years and the motu stuff has worked fine...

Computer recommendations for 2408 mk3 with expansions
Getting ready to setup a live recording/multi-track cueing station. Plans are for one PCI or PCIe(?) 2408 mk3, and up to three 24 i/o expansion units. analog in/outs are going to a Soundcraft Spirit 8 bus 48 channel board (already in place). Timecode audio/video sync to mediashout on a separate comp...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
I think I'll give Battery a try first, then add BFD. I need to upgrade to a G5 Dual 2.0 or faster and a MOTU interface.
I've been using the 24bit 96k M-Audio 1010 and 410 (which actually sound great) but they won't work on a newer G5.
I'd like an 828mk3 (or 2)

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
I'm guessing that I did not select a range for each drum note, and DP kept them all linked for some reason.
I'll go back and try a new split and follow your directions.
Thank you David, Will post results.

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
Wow - I think you all are making this MUCH harder than it has to be. Just use the "Split Notes" feature in DP 1. Create your MIDI drum track 2. Create additional MIDI tracks for: kick, snare, hats, toms, cymbals 3. Highlight your "master" MIDI track and set its boundaries to the...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
That looks very nice. I like the fact you can output the separate drums for processing, and it includes room mics and overheads to add into the mix. Thats something you don't get short of room mic'ing yourself. Thanks i'm going to see if that, or their advanced product called "Superior Drummer ...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
No, I don't think Unisyn will help you. Unisyn depends on helper files for every instrument that it is used with, and someone has to write those files. (MOTU doesn't write them; advanced users do, or someone in the factory where the instruments are created) For all the work you're putting into this...

You guys still with me? lol,
I'm not sure so if anyone knows, can Unisyn be used for what I need?

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
Well, it does not work as hoped. Still have the volume linking between the split MIDI tracks. I deleted the pan and volume info from the sequence editor but still no luck. Also, Garageband won't run the separated tracks through without re-combining them to one stereo track. I guess simultaneous mult...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
ok, I'm on to a solution of sorts. I've linked GarageBand with Digital Performer using SoundFlower. I created 12 tracks in GB and selected a drum kit for each track. Manipulating the notes each kit plays can become groups of Kicks, Snares, etc. I set different MIDI channels for each of the 12 kits. ...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
Easier to do for some than others! lol Yes I'm doing exactly as you posted with the DM5, recording the DM5 audio sounds for reference, and splitting the recorded MIDI info to trigger software sounds. I'm writing songs and solving this one problem will help get all this equipment "out of the way...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
Awesome info guys! Hello JHayes, once you turn ON "TX Sysex", I'll assume that each drum instrument should be set to "center" individually on the DM5. If so, while you're doing that, make sure that DP is recording (receiving Sysex data). If the preset of a drum instrument is not...

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
hmm...
To save a ton of time searching for drum sounds you want to use, the individual software synths for drums could be set up as:
Drum synth 1) Kick Drum sounds
Drum synth 2) Snare sounds
Drum synth 3) Toms
Drum synth 4) Crash cymbals
etc.
a feature like this would be great

Re: After splitting MIDI notes for individual drum tracks
Awesome info guys! Yes, assigning to different MIDI channels freed up the "Linked together" problem, but I ran into the "all drums on 10" problem. I'll try your CC setups tomorrow. I'll also turn on sysex in the DM5. Hey, how about we make 12 identical drum sound sets to select f...
