Re: 64 bit right around the corner...this spring?

Would be great to have DP step up to 64-bit native on OS X. Logic started the ball rolling, now Cubase has gone 64-bit on Mac. DP is left behind in this department. It's mostly in consideration of loading large virtual instruments. I have colleagues using DP even with the most advanced "tweaks&...

Re: Is a MOTU worth buying for a windows user??

I've had a lot of showstopping problems on PCs including 64 bit Windows - on many different systems. Personally I would say to stay away. MOTU is fab on Macs, but PCs are a real gamble.

Re: irql_not_less_or_equal: motuaw64.sys, BSOD

bressler: Nice to know someone else shares my pain (ironically). Hope it can add fuel to the fire for MOTU to get their •••• together. Interesting to note that you are using the same model Intel CPU. I wonder if that matters. I have heard rumors from other forums that this chip has problems (but it ...

Re: irql_not_less_or_equal: motuaw64.sys, BSOD

bill: thanks for the info. I have used every DAW under the sun, and this BSOD issue happens with any program. Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, does not matter. Across multiple systems. This is 100% reproducible. The only thing that is similar between the machines might be the processor (Q6600) but the motherb...

Re: irql_not_less_or_equal: motuaw64.sys, BSOD

I'm getting BSODs in numerous ways.. some times randomly, but most notably (and reproducibly) if there's an app like Cubase that is using the MOTU drivers, if that app is terminated (say, through CTRL+ALT+DEL), the machine will BSOD every time. Some times immediately, other times after a minute or t...

Re: irql_not_less_or_equal: motuaw64.sys, BSOD

I can tell you right now upgrading the card will not fix this. I have used a PCIX-424 and a PCIe-424 and continue to have these BSODs. Swapped card slots, changed BIOS settings, everything humanly possible. Frustrated.

Interesting quote both on and off-topic: “It’s OK to have problems as long as you admit to them and fix them. In fact, if you admit to them and fix them, it turns out to be an effect that creates more intense loyalty than you would expect..." ~Steve Jobs on the MobileMe snafu. That I believe. ...

We're having identical issues over here. 8-core Intel Mac Pro with Leopard. Weird mouse pointer stuff, saving spikes CPU and often crashes. Not 100% sure if the Spectrasonics stuff is causing this, but we have the Intel wrappers running too. Sorry mate, no help on this one. But we've been looking fo...

Snafu. Love that word. I've had an incredible love/hate relationship with GigaStudio. It's been a massive headache having to service nearly a dozen machines, all with varying hardware which GS simply doesn't tolerate (memory issues, BSODs, the works). All things aside, I hope GS can be picked up by ...

Hate to say it, but Cubase 4 has never -once- crashed on OSX for me. I kid you not. And I throw all sorts of VIs at it, within a 400-track MIDI session, syncing to MTC, running QuickTime video, you name it. I whip around in the UI, relocate, do what you will, before, during, and after file sa...
