Re: Which Windows version is best?
+1 for windows 7! i see a slight performance drop in w7 compared to a stripped xp build, not sure if thats down to OS resource usage or drivers that aren't as optimised. the OS easily makes up for it in ease of use and sensible developments from older windows os's tho.

Re: Replacing Fw port on 828
thanks so much for your very helpful response! I'll have you know my reason for moving my rack is for location recording, and all cables but one are propperly disconnected. The only cable that remains connected is for a pre amp in the same rack and cant be removed. I suspect this is what caused the...

Replacing Fw port on 828
One of my 828mk3's fw ports has stopped working. the port is visibly broken, and although im not entirely sure how it happened it doesnt surprise me too much as i move my 828 about in a rack case a fair bit. My question is; has anyone replaced one of the ports themselves and if so how hard is it? :D...

Re: Need help getting second 828mk3 to not blue screen pc
i currently have an 828mk2, an 828 mk3 and a focusrite octopre running on xp using cubase on my dell latitude e5500. 828's FW daisychained and the focusrite via ADAT into the Mk3. iv stress tested the system using all i/o and it was totally stable while opening other programs and generally messing w...

Re: Problem: Audio breaks when two Ultralites are daisy chained
you say you are using just the internet and audio? this could well be your problem. try stopping all services to do with networking. if theres one single thing i could attribute most of my motu problems to on xp and vista it would be networking services. drops out everytime. no probs on W7 tho.....

Re: daisy chaining interfaces; how many theoretical channels.?
thanks for the response! i have had no trouble running an 828mk2 via f/w daisychain.. but you're right, and i would definately stress test the system before the session. By what you've said about the MOTU spec i could run a theoretical 56 channel system (40 through daisy chained F/W and 16 via the h...

daisy chaining interfaces; how many theoretical channels.?
hi. i have a location recording session coming up rather soon and i'm going to need a fair bit of multitracking beef. So my questions are; how many channels can i get into my DAW using an 828mk3 as the primary interface, taking into consideration daisychaining via f/w and both channels of ADAT. Also...

oktava mk012's from oktavamod
hey, i'm considering buying a pair of modded Mk012's from oktavamod, but at $669 i wanna ask everyone's opinion on whether they are worth the cash. they will mainly be used for OH's, alongside close mic'ing of other instruments. any opinions/recomendations?
thanks!
thanks!

Rubicon R6a Vs R8a
i'v decided i need some new monitors, with a budget of £350ish... i stumbled on a pair of rubicon R6a's for 250 quid which is a bit of a steal compared to the new cost of £380. anyone had any hands on experience with em? also why do the r8s retail for a touch less then the r6s when new? any other re...

Re: MOTU 828 Mk3: Considering to buy... is it stable?
i use an 828mk3 on my dell e5500 notebook (ricoh fw chipset) and a homebuild desktop. besides occasional audio dropouts on my desktop (usually when networking is up to something) i have no issues at all.
