I figure that I should chime in as I use an external analog desk (Soundcraft). I do believe that it sounds better, but that is subjective to say the least...that's not why I do it though. I think I could recreate or create a 'sound' in the box that equalled or surpassed that of the external desk. bu...

Shooshie - thanks for posting that for people - you beat me to it! Again, not everyone will have the same experience - I really think that it is a combination of things and is system dependent. I do think that there are CoreMidi issues, and since Quicktime is part of the 'media' routing in the OS, i...

A thought on stuck MIDI notes in DP5
I never had stuck notes until upgrading to 5.01. As soon as I did, I couldn't play a single MIDI note without it sticking. So, I did the following and now I have no stuck notes at all: 1. My MIDI Express XT was plugged into one of the built in USB ports - I removed it and put it in a port on my USB ...

yep, I say upsample. Even changing the gain of a track can produce quantization errors...if you convert to 24 bit, you are providing yourself with the digital headroom (note: not traditional audio headroom in this case) for those errors to occur within. Check out Bob Katz's book. It is extremely hel...

Thanks for the replies - that's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Its very true that people mainly come here to gripe, which is a shame, but at least there is a venue for them to do so (and get some help). I will definitely be making the jump sooner or later. Right now, my G4 1.3 processo...

DP 5 verdict for those who are scared to upgrage??
Hi There are so many posts with various bugs, issues, etc., but I can't seem to get a handle on how people feel overall about DP5. Should those of us who haven't upgraded yet do so? Or, do you that have upgraded think that we should wait for the next update? Are the bugs to many and disruptive? Than...

I just got the new Sweetwater GearPorn 06 and it had a big fancy spread on DP 5. They said nothing about 'available on..' or 'almost here!' If i didn't know better I would assume that I could call them up and have a copy here on Tuesday. hopefully it is but weeks away. Although, it only price for th...

Do you mean as a sequence is looping? I have an issue that shows up every once and a while where the first few ticks of any note at the beginning of a MIDI loop will get cut off. No big deal on a kick drum (reminds me where the loop begins) but if it is a note that goes for many bars, it is just cut...

Help requested - MIDI takes
Ok. I've read through the manual a billion times trying to figure this out, and I still don't see the answer I'm looking for... I used to use PT. When recording MIDI, I would set up a 16 bar loop and work out a bass line (or whatever) as MIDI. The loop would cycle through to the beginning and automa...

As for the firewire possibility, that is not the issue with me. I've experienced this problem when running a clean partition of a firewire drive and a USB2 drive... Personally, I'm very doubtful about the AU Scan process. It tests the AU in a 'bubble.' It creates an instance, checks the threading an...
