it is written in the 896's user guide : with more than 2 896, you need TWO firewire cards to get the sync at 96 and not two firewire busses on the same card.

Yes, each others are connected with firewire. And the master one (#1) is connected to the computer via firewire cable. My via firewire card doesn't make synch ok with win xp pro sp2...As well as my texas instrument ... Did you try win xp pro SP1 ? I bought a licence for win2000pro a few years ago......
