828 mkII "etiquette"? (or how not to kill your DAI)
My 828 mkII (Firewire) died about a month ago after 5 years and the kind people at MOTU repaired it (for $99). Now that it's working again, does anyone have any workflow or "etiquette" tips to keep it alive and functioning for a good, long time? It's kept off until recording and is kept in...

Scale Time - buggy? (DP5)
I've been having this intermittent problem with Region -> Scale Time... where
I'll put in the Start and End Times and it'll do the correct time scale but the soundbite
will be arbitrarily short. Is there any way to get around this / avoid this or am I
just really lucky?

Pointers for crash-less DP5.11 + MIDI Express XT?
I had almost zero crashes when working with DP5.11. That is, until I got a MOTU MIDI Express XT. I could be just playing back old inported MIDI files, creating new MIDI data, or sometimes just have all the MIDI tracks muted and it will crash the computer and require a power cycle. Any pointers on th...

I'm an idiot...
...I believe my problem was, I was trying to do the quantizing while having
the soundbite selected in the Sound File / Waveform Editor window instead
of the Sequence window. ugh... That'll learn me.

Help Quantizing a Soundbite
Hello - I'm attempting to quantize a soundbite of a synth bass. It is within a project that has some MIDI data and I have set the tempo for the project. I've done a beat detection on the soundfile; deleted the beats that I don't want, selected the soundbite and then tried Region > Quantize > Beats w...

Sure - I just have to get them off my ancient powerbook and convert them from Galaxy Plus Editors to sysex. Once I get to go on vacation I'm going to try and get this stuff out of mothballs. On a side note - got the K1 RII that I won but it was shipped without any padding whatsoever. The rack tabs w...

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD600's and HD650's. Listened to the same piece of music before the break in, left them in another room playing a repeating CD, and took a listen to the same piece of music and there was a bit of a change. The sound did open up a bit and I could tell a difference. Did I l...

DP5.11 not sending MIDI volume?
I've taken some old MIDI files from Opcode MusicShop, saved them out as standard MIDI files and loaded them into DP5.11 and everything's working file EXCEPT the volume data isn't getting sent to the keyboard. Checked the keyboard and it's enabled to receive volume data and there's a nice curve in th...

can K1 II share patches with K1?
I'm flirting with buying a used K1 rII but was
hoping that I could use my K1 patches on it.
Looked around on the web and couldn't really
find any information. Might anyone know?
Thanks!

Axiom 49 -> DP5 VI lag
Just got an Axiom 49 (affordable, wanted faders, knobs, pads, etc.) and was trying it with DP5 VI's and there's a considerable lag in response time. Tried lowering the buffer to as low as it can go and Use CoreMIDI patch-thru is set in the Preferences but it's still slow. Using a MacBook 2Ghz with 2...

Thanks - I actually still have an ancient laptop with MusicShop on it. (Seriously - I completely forgot that I had the thing. It was buried in the basement). And surprisingly enough, it has OS 8 on it. Do you know if EZVision files retain all the MIDI Program information, etc when it's imported into...

Absurd Archiving: EZVision/MusicShop -> DP5
I'm going to try to archive all the MIDI garbage that I did with EZVision and MusicShop and record the resulting tracks with DP5. Anyone know if you can actually import these ancient files into DP5 or if there's any way to convert them to work with DP5? Wish I had a brain and just hit record close t...

merging 2 mono soundbites into 1 stereo?
I've started archiving a bunch of old 4 track recordings and on several projects I digitized a stereo pair as two mono tracks. Is it possible to merge two mono tracks into one stereo track? I've been looking through the User Guide but the only thing I could see is merge two mono into one mono. Did I...

828mkII - strange level / metering discrepancy
Just got an 828mkII and DP5.11 and am starting to archive some ancient 4 track recordings. I noticed that I had to use "boost" even though I am using the -10dB setting - which is fine. But the signal that I was getting in the meter bridge and on the unit itself is around -6 to -9dB though ...
