Holding/Freezing a Note in DP
Hi everyone, sorry if this has been answered somewhere before on the forum but unfortunately my searches all pull up "track freezing" or "dp freezing" (i.e., crashes, quits). My question is whether in DP you can take a portion of audio, say a single note or chord in a solo, and &...

Wow. Just the advice I was looking for (in addition to the other posts... all very helpful).Shooshie wrote:Some things to remember re: live performance and DP:
Thanks a ton.
P.S. is your live piano sound of choice Ivory 2 or do you use something else?

Re: Basic Question Re Live Performance
Just to give more perspective: the live performance I am talking about is a musical score for a silent film to be performed live, in sync with the picture. This means: 1) Pre-programmed sequences are out because it is very hard to get a silent film to be projects at the same speed (frames/sec) so yo...

Re: Basic Question Re Live Performance
Or a single instance of VI on as many sequences as needed, and jumping between sequences with any MIDI controller, such as Keith Mc Millen SoftStep. I've done this in DP for years. Never a glitch. Hmm... is there no way of switching between sequences with a normal MIDI keyboard? Can you point me in...

Re: Basic Question Re Live Performance
Many thanks Daniel. Interestingly, Automap seems to have less compatibility with DP than with other DAWs (Logic Ableton...). If it is an issue of arming/disarming individual VIs in DP wouldn't any other MIDI controller suffice (e.g., a foot controller in which one of the pedals is assigned to scroll...

Basic Question Re Live Performance
Sorry if this should be obvious, but I am trying to get a feel for how people use their plugins, softsythns etc. in a live performance setting with DP. Assume you have a bunch of softsynths and plugins organized in presets that you want to use live. How do you recall these in real time? I am not pla...

HELP!: Troubling DP 7.24 Audio Issue
Hi guys, I have searched the forum and can't quite find the same issue dealt with here: For a few days now, audio has been periodically "blacking out" for less than a couple of seconds every now and then (say every 4 minutes or so). Now, with increasing frequency, DP just "fizzles&quo...

Re: Routing MIDI from One Virtual Instrument to Another
Hhhmmm... thanks for the suggestion Bralston. However, while Cthulhu seems to latch automatically onto IAC Bus 2, I can't identify a IAC input in my softsynths (its either "All" or 1-16 but the IAC bus does not appear). In other words, I can't pick IAC Bus 2 as a MIDI input for Massive or ...

Re: Routing MIDI from One Virtual Instrument to Another
Thanks much Bralston. However I having difficulty understanding how to link the new softsynth to the IAC Bus. I was able to set up the IAC bus in AudioMidi Setup and in fact Cthulhu recognizes IAC, but how do I link that to the softsynth in DP? I have set up Cthulhu in an Instrument track and e.g. M...

Routing MIDI from One Virtual Instrument to Another
Hi there, I know this must be really basic but I wasn't able to come up with the answer by searching the forum. Apologies in advance I am trying to route the MIDI output of one virtual instrument (specifically: Xfer Cthulhu) to another virtual instrument (e.g., Alchemy, Massive or another softsynth)...

Re: Upgrading to Mountain Lion Mid-Project
Thanks for the replies guys. Thinking through, it really boils down to NI Battery 4. Battery 4 runs perfectly on 10.6.8 but the silly NI Service Center needs 10.7 and up to authorize it. So I can't save patches etc. But for this I would stay with 10.6.8 (and may do so). Of course I have authorized B...

Upgrading to Mountain Lion Mid-Project
Yes, I know this is a big no-no... but I am having a hard time resisting. I am running DP7.24 with OS 10.6.8 on a 2009 Mac Pro. There are a few plugs (mainly Native Instruments things) that need at least 10.7. I know 7.24 and these plugs run very well on my Retina MBP so my question is how complicat...

Making Windows Independent
Sorry to all if this is 101, but I am trying to make the Tracks window independent from the Mixing Board, so that if I select a particular track in the Tracks window, when I then switch to the Mixing Board all tracks (that were previously selected) are still visible and not only the track I selected...

Re: MOTU and MacBook Pros: Retina vs. standard
I will take another look. It isn't a huge issue from a practical standpoint, in the sense that it simply requires "rebooting" MAS after the retina has gone to sleep.
By the way, I do find my retina takes a long time to wake up!!
