Poor fitting USB cable, Microbook II
With very minor movement, it's extremely easy to interrupt the USB connection from my Microbook II.
Has anyone else experienced this with your unit?

Re: Poor fitting USB cable, Microbook II
My Track 16 has a fairly loose fitting FW connector. Slight movement disrupts the connection. Since I won the unit it's silly of me to complain to MOTU but had I bought it for $600 I'd be making a lot of noise.

A drop of rubber cement applied to the connection after it's plugged in works well and peals off easily when you want it to. Silicon seal works, too but takes a lot longer to set.
The thick stuff for stationery, like Elmer's, works best. Avoid the thin stuff often found in auto parts stores - that's better for patching tires.
Just use a drop on the side - like Brylcreme, "A little dab'll do ya"

My 828mk3 FW is like that too.
Seems like MOTU needs to fix!
I was planning to use the 828mk3 for live shows (recording + backing tracks playback) but don't think I trust the unit for that...

Re: Poor fitting USB cable, Microbook II
Maybe they did fix it. My 828-3 FW connections are as snug as any FW connection.FutureLegends wrote:My 828mk3 FW is like that too.

Re: Poor fitting USB cable, Microbook II
Yes, maybe they did. And they use FW800 connections now also on their latest interfaces, no?

Re: Poor fitting USB cable, Microbook II
I think they do, but my 828 uses the FW 400.FutureLegends wrote:Yes, maybe they did. And they use FW800 connections now also on their latest interfaces, no?
