Trouble Installing MOTU 896HD

I've had this piece of equipment for about 4 years now. I know that I had trouble installing it each time (this is the third time), I just can't figure out for the life of me what I did to get it to work. I called tech support and I haven't gotten any help at all. They kind of just mumbled on the phone, said they didn't know and put me on hold.

But more or less, I used the installation disc that came with the 896HD (24-Bit 192 Khz Firewire). After installing and reinstarting, I turn the MOTU on and it isn't recognized. I thought I remember having to install the drivers from the website because there was an error with the disc or so they said. So I uninstalled it, and downloaded the drivers from the website. Installed them, and repeated.

However, everytime I click on the MOTU options in the start menu. It says No MOTU device is found. I'm on Vista now. I was on XP before.. I just can't figure it out. The computer is well equipped so it should work.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What happens when you power cycle it?

Sorry, I'm an idiot. I looked back at this and thought about it.

Nothing happens. I hear a beep when it restarts on the computer but nothing pops up anywhere and I can't find anywhere on the computer to where I might be able to further the process. I install the drivers without the MOTU plugged in. Restart the computer with it plugged in and nothing. I can't get it installed and it's driving me crazy.

What does the driver info say? By that I mean, when you start up the driver manually?

You've reinstalled the driver?

Maybe from your statement you cant figure out how to start up the driver. Do a search for MOTU Audio Setup.
