I agree, the TC verbs sound great, but the price of admission is just too high. I LOVE the sound of Megaverb on PowerCore even better than ClassicVerb, but I really don't like any of the other PoCo stuff. $1000+ for one reverb is just too much for my blood.monkey man wrote:Thanks, flashgerkin!flashgerkin wrote:Ok, here it comes: "ClassicVerb" has a smooth, rich sound with a satisfying density. I recently heard VSS3. This has to be the best sounding reverb plug I've heard to date.
Best reverb plugin for DP 5?

I've used MegaVerb and an M2000. MegaVerb doesn't even compare. It sounds like a cheap toy by comparison. The M2000 is dense and smooth, where MegaVerb is thin and ringy. MegaVerb sounds too similar to eVerb. I can't think of one instance where I've used MegaVerb, but the M2000 I used to use all the time.naro wrote:Have compare the sound of a megaverb with tc's hardware? (m2000,3000,5000...)

Interesting.....I've been considering the M2000. At $700, it's a good price for a hardware reverb.Splinter wrote:I've used MegaVerb and an M2000. MegaVerb doesn't even compare. That would be great man. Well, the IR folder overall is about 2.3GB, but that's including a lot that can be downloaded off the net. My own samplings of UAD-1 and RVerb (WAV files) are about 300MB. I was thinking of just putting up the converted Wizoo files for everyone because others who have Altiverb or whatever can find a huge selection online and convert them to whatever compatible format they need. I just figured that it would also save those users of WizooVerb another step in converting files, but if any other users of convolution would like the raw IR's, then maybe I should post some of those as well? I'll let you know more details on file sizes when I finish a project that I have a deadline for in a few days; I still have some more IR's to make. If you guys have any suggestions on the files/formats you'd like, please feel free to let me know.porieux wrote:How big are the files? I might be able to host them for you.

In terms of PoCo ClassicVerb vs MegaVerb, Classic is the better sounding plug (to my ears anyway).
But with DreamVerb vs MegaVerb, Dream is better sounding and the GUI has more options like the ability to blend two different room shapes and materials.
The price of admission to PoCo and optional plugs is obscene. But the FW connection is a huge plus when considering non-PCI type macs.
I think very useable sounds can be coaxed out of MatrixVerb, Ambience, and even eVerb with a little investment of time. eVerb sounds immediately better after hi freq roll off.

According to TC's site, the algorithms used for the ClassicVerb are "derived" from the M6000 - whatever that means - while the algorithms in the M-One XL are written just for that box. Whatever that really means is up to your ears, but it at least tells me the ClassicVerb and M-One are not the same verbs.naro wrote:classic reverb ans the m-one look the same things?
I ve already a m-one,the powercore is better than classic or megaverb?

Yeah, you gots ta mess with the ER engine and roll 'em highs... off.flashgerkin wrote:...I think very useable sounds can be coaxed out of... eVerb with a little investment of time. eVerb sounds immediately better after hi freq roll off.
Didn't Magic Dave tell us that the newer eVerb plug needs the highs rolled off a little for its presets to sound like their equivalents in previous versions?
That would make rollin' dem highs ever-the-more necessary.

Wow. I thought it was just I who thought it sounded like crap.Splinter wrote:I've used MegaVerb and an M2000. MegaVerb doesn't even compare. It sounds like a cheap toy by comparison. I think you even used the same terms, Splinter, such as ringy etc.
I always assumed it was just that I hadn't put in the time to master it as a tool.
Guess I was just too kind...
BTW, guys, I think we're talking about TC MegaReverb here.

Do you have it set as post-fader?willtompkins wrote:Does Altiverb cut your reverb tail off where your soundbite ends? Maybe this is inherent with convolution, but the only annoying thing with WizooVerb is with shorter length soundbites that you want a longer decay on. Have other Wizoo users noticed this?-Will

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with pre/post sends or even if it's used as an insert for that matter. Even when you stop playback, the reverb stops too. Kind of weird? My only solution so far for playback is to insert sections of silence after soundbites that need to decay. I'm going to email them about this.

I thought ClassicVerb was supposed to mimic older studio class hardware reverbs, as noted in an old SOS review:Resonant Alien wrote:According to TC's site, the algorithms used for the ClassicVerb are "derived" from the M6000 - whatever that means - while the algorithms in the M-One XL are written just for that box. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Feb03/a ... in0203.aspNevertheless, there are occasions on which a more vintage reverb sound is better suited to the song, hence the addition of ClassicVerb. Though ClassicVerb doesn't purport to emulate any specific make or model of reverb unit, it sounds to me very reminiscent of older Lexicon models, especially at the high-frequency end of the spectrum where it has a nice steamy, breathy quality.
anyway, I like it. . .and tend to use it more than megaverb.

My bad - I was thinking of MegaVerb - it's modeled after the M5000. ClassicVerb is modeled after some unnamed "classic reverb"....I'm guessing Lexicon....emulatorloo wrote:I thought ClassicVerb was supposed to mimic older studio class hardware reverbs, as noted in an old SOS review:Resonant Alien wrote:According to TC's site, the algorithms used for the ClassicVerb are "derived" from the M6000 - whatever that means - while the algorithms in the M-One XL are written just for that box.
