I was told that the host buffer multiplier doubles whatever you have your buffer set too, of course I have the manual sitting right here, I guess I could look : )beppe wrote:Hi, Coal, why you have the host multiplier on 2?
I see on your setup the Motu 828, you use too another interface at the same time? If you use only the 828, the host multiplier must be on !, and may be this causes the problem?

Not really, I have seen some SATA controller cards as low as $49. Most are around $99. I am not sure if the Seagate 10K drives have any issues with G5 SATA. I almost exclusivelty buy Western Digital hard drives because I have never had one give me any trouble. I did have a Seagate croak once but that would not make me avoid them as many people seem happy with them. I do avoid Maxtor at any cost. After I had a spindle motor failure I did some research and found an awful track record for Maxtor.Sounds a bit of an expensive endeavor!
