New Features for DP5.1

Post by chaim »

••• We have pitch detection.
How about amplitude detection?
Why?
The same way copy and pasting pitch info from one soundbite to the other comes in handy, let's say you wanted the singer to bend the tune a certain way but he didn't really do it the way you wanted, but close, you sing the part the way you like it in a second track, copy and paste the pitch info and done. It really works.

But how about vibrato? Vibrato is a combination of pitch shift and amplitude. With pitch detection we can C/P the pitch but the amplitude stays the way it was.

So we go over to the Amplitude detection layer, copy the detected amplitude of the guide track and paste it into the solo track, now we have both pitch and amplitude and hopefully it sounds usable! :D

••• Option to Lock (tie) open/closed Track folders between Tracks and Mixer
windows.
When a Track folder is closed in the Tracks window it should close in the mixer window as well...
An 'option' in the mini menu of the mixer window.

MOTU: Thank you for developing this great software: DP.
I can not see myself using any other program even if I get an entire system for free!

I wish you success until DP99 and beyond!

POLAR functionality for MIDI (sort of like track lanes but in RAM) or successive takes like hard-disk audio loop recording is handled?

1. Audio mixer core input switching and hardware input switching with ALL manufacturer IOs, not just MOTU.

2. Update to end or marker. Like old SSL G automation, anything in play and live update, with one command will stop playback and ask where you want writing updated too like the end or a marker. This status update feature would be incredibly USEFUL WORK FLOW ADD ON.

3. No more blanking out audio when a echo, plugs selected or a fader is moved. Hey! other software doesn't do this so what up?

4. Fix glitching when more than one IO of a different manufacturer than MOTU is selected in hardware setup.

5. Longer more precision faders available in prefs with automation bar pref instead of faders moving.

6. Auto history updating instead of auto save. Auto save is antique. Rather have a running list of every parameter changed instead of minimal functions. Obviously this would be more cpu intensive but the fast QUAD suckers are coming next year and I think it would be a useful new feature.

ALL AUDIO CAN BOUNCE TO DISK regardless of MIDI without freeze. At least in real time.

Yes we want to be able to turn all this •••• on and off with the prefs, if applicable please, thank you.

A REAL Freeze function - i.e. Freezing tracks in NON-REAL time! Current Freeze is nothing more than a real-time bounce that automatically sets up tracks - not much of a time saver really.

Oh, and hopefully clean up all those pesky bugs that were apparently introduced in 5.0 (I'm still on 4.61 because of all the posts here about bugs in 5.0)

I would love it if DP would spit out a hundred dollar bill every time i did a good take. Now THAT would be cutting edge!

Automatic crossfades for edits similar to Nuendo. The "crossfades on edits" in Preferences doesn't seem to do much

ID like to add to this with asking for a clean and updated mackie MCU and C4 driver, also a universal default controller mapping system so DP knows that you always have a certain controller attached so everytime you open an instrument you dont have to re-map all the faders and knobs over again.. a one time default controller setup..

Please general ON/OFF switch for Always Run In Real-time mode !!!

This option is for me unnecessary (G5 2.7 DP) .Plugins window open time is too long, produce frustrating sound effect and time by time crasch my DP5.

This mode is more controversial news.

Specifically hosting MP3s in the software.

Secondly, SUPPORT FOR PITCH 'N TIME or develop DP's own fantastic ptich and time shifting for full mixes.
