Re: Pitch Automation Tips in DP 4.6
Does pitch correction NOT work under DAE? When I switch to DAE, I lose the ability to select and move pitch automation. Ideas?
Re: Pitch Automation Tips in DP 4.6
MagicD - Thanks for the idea about using Merge Soundbites. The only problem with that is my pitch edits are lost - I can't go back and tweak them again. It seems easier to freeze the track when I want to free up CPU cycles. Or I guess I could duplicate the take, and then Merge Soundbites on the new take, so I still have the original to go back to.

There you go. That's what I do with any significant editing so I can always go back to the original. Duplicate take and merge.Originally posted by Paradox:

Re-read the pdf. You want to redraw the lines of pitch info, not move the segments around. The segments will relocate themselves when you redraw.Originally posted by sruhs:
I must be missing something. When I drag the pitch segments I hear no difference in the pitch. What am I doing wrong.javascript:void(0)
Dave - Great info on printing. Both I and my slow Mac thank you for that

That's not true. The pitch segments represent the detected root pitch can also be used to modify the audio file's pitch.Originally posted by Big Daddy:

I have the same problem under DAE. I can select the pitch curve but cannot move it. Using Option-click just enables the zoom command. A bit of a drag.Originally posted by pcm:

Re: Pitch Automation Tips in DP 4.6
*Please remember that this is my subjective opinion.*
There are times it does well, and times it granulates the audio pretty badly. It's pretty hit and miss, so far. I certainly enjoy the convenience of it, and it sounds fine for demo material. I'm not so sure I'd use it on master stuff, tho. The one thing that they need to allow you to do is decide whether or not the pitch curve will move the Formants as well as the Pitch (like in the Spectral effects dialog). There are times when PureDSP can't change the pitch without messing up the sound, so I have it move Formants as well in those cases. If the interval isn't too far, the "Mickey Mouse" effect doesn't come into play.
I've always used a combo of both DP's pitch shifting and Auto-Tune. There are certain things that each does a little better than the other. Being able to "tilt" pitch curves in AT is great, but it's not so good at big interval moves. It also has trouble tracking breathy notes. I start out using AT and jump to DP pitch whenever it runs into a snag. Again, AT is more undetectable to my ear when done right.
Again, just my humble opinion. No attacks please.

Re: Pitch Automation Tips in DP 4.6
As someone who has spend countless hundreds of hours in AT over the past five years, I must say that I like DP pitch automation a lot. It is more intuative than AT, and easier. As far as sound goes, I don't feel it is any worse than AT, which is to say it is quite satisfactory.
However, in some songs, it simply does not function. I can move the data, but hear no result. What the heck?

Re: Pitch Automation Tips in DP 4.6
And more thing. The fact that pitch automation does not run under DAE is a major drag. MOTU, please make this work if at all possible!
