Falcon and Sonoma

Post by gavspen »

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the place to post, but....

I know many are using Falcon. Sonoma is not officially supported, but UVI say that things seem to be going ok, no reported problems.

What is the general consensus around here?

Thanks,
Gavin

I'm on Sequoia with Falcon and no issues. Of course we all do things differently but so far everything is working fine. I use the MPE presets and host UVI sample libraries in it with no weirdness yet.

In general considering UVI/Falcons legacy with MOTU I can't name an issue I've had with Falcon in DP? That's the realm of IK, NI and Akai (InMusic in general) here. Those personally are the companies that will have issues with OS updates and DP.

I was on the UVI site this morning and Sonoma was listed in the System Requirements. Sequoia was not but, as Michael has reported, it works fine for me, too.

What version are you guys using?

I have 2.8.2 and it looks like v3 will cost me $299. At least that's the price in the cart, which is weird, because the cross grade from Mach5 v3 (which is most certainly the way I got Falcon) is only $179

Yikes! That sounds pretty brutal. I would submit a ticket to UVI support and plead your case. They tend to be understanding and lenient on some of these things if you contact them privately. I can't see how they wouldn't make SOME kind of accommodation!

Are you using the UVI portal for software updates? IIRC, the V3 update was no charge. If you're not seeing that in the portal, drop tech support a line.

You know I forgot all about the UVI portal. Doh! I was looking for an update button on the plugin itself, or thought the web site would recognise me when I logged in, or something.

Anyway, that worked. Thanks for the reminder CharlzS. :D

FYI... for anyone who doesn't have Falcon yet... there's a pretty killer deal going on at Image Line's website. Falcon plus 19 expansions for $199! Even if you half Falcon but not many expansions, might be worthwhile!
