Wish list For DP 5.1 (or DP5?)

more user defined defaults would be good in general. like automation curve types, modes and status (on/off).

also, i would love to see contextual menus for things like changing automation layers and tools.

I'd like to see stackable automation layers, so they aren't over each other. Also, if I select a controller I'd like to automate, I'd like that to stay selected in the automation window, not switch to something else.

I start getting a few controllers and it just gets complicated after a bit

Motu, "with all these features you are spoiling us" (Ferrero Rocher ad? - sorry crap joke) but I think this is more important than new synths , that we'd still have to freeze using the same old process may I add....

sub-menus for input bundles! when you're running multiple vis, the new bundles list gets unwieldy fast. it would be nice if the menus were divided by type (buses, inputs, kontakt, live, reason, etc.)

It would be great to be able to highlight a number of tracks in the tracks window and move them together. For instance, grab all the strings tracks, and put them at the top or somewhere else in the list.

Perhaps command/drag

Control+Home = Top
Control+End = Bottom
Control+Page Up = Up
Control+ Page Down = ?

Option+Control+Home = Move Together (up)

So if you wanna move a group of tracks to a specific spot, without moving one space at a time, Shift-select the tracks to be moved, then Shift-select the track (above them) that you want them to end up below, hit Opt+Cntrl+Home. If the desired destination is below the tracks, move them all to the bottom first.

BTW: These operations take a little time, so you might think it's not doing anything after hitting the command.......give it a few seconds.

Tim, your instructions are not working.
If I shift click five tracks, they are highlighted.
Then you say shift select the track name that you want them to end up below. If I shift select again, it unhighlights the tracks I want to move.

I might be misunderstanding your term shift select.

And just to be thorough, the commands for moving tracks around are found in the Commands window and you can edit the key strokes if you like.

The Commands window is actually a killer way to get into DP. You can learn a lot about DPs capabilities just by browsing this window.

That sounds right to me.
As long as you're not clicking before pressing (and holding) the Shift key, I don't know why he other tracks would deselect.

The track that the others are to be moved near can be selected at the same time (same holding of the shift key) as the others. I didn't necessarily mean that it had to be a separate thing. Still, you should be able to go away for an hour, come back and shift select a track without the others deselecting.

I never read the manual (not that one shouldn't), I just browse the Commands window. And that it has a search function makes it doubley killer (or is it, 'Dolby'?)!

If I understant ya, you can actually do this. Just go the Set Up>Time Format, & just choose what ya wanna see as the format for the Time Ruler.

man, great info there. being a new user, that's where i'll start spending more time. and, btw, it's "dolby". you mix your albums (particularly black ones) in doubly.
