Wish list For DP 5.1 (or DP5?)
Thank You MOTU for the new DP5 features.
But always room for more:
••• MIDI Assignments - (just like Audio Assignments)
••• DP plays other audio formats along side SDII with out converting. (just like new Logic 7.2)
••• DP shows which tracks are active on the connected Control Surface. (Logic 7.2) Useful for those that don't have a scribble strip.
••• Mackie Control or any other control surface reflects DP's mixer when a track is hidden.

ESSENTIAL
Dae7 support.
Bounce to Disk in DAE will include all RTAS, virtural instruments etc.
LESS ESSENTIAL.
Fix the add a track all sends go to pre bug in DAE mode.
Rewire in DAE mode.
Single command to play again from last play start point (i.e. press play again while DP is playing).
Faster loading/unloading in DAE mode.
Preference so that edit selection in Tracks window is not changed by activity anywhere else (other windows etc.).

Maybe I don't understand this correctly, but I believe if you mean like from the audio bundles, this is an added feature of DP5.0 I read.••• MIDI Assignments - (just like Audio Assignments)

lotsa nice new stuff in there...mine are still the usual:
1. better performance optimization (ala logic).
2. bug fixes. that stuck MIDI note thing is driving people nuts.
3. native support for aiff/wav/bwav formats (i.e. no import to sdII).
4. pan law of -6db for mono channels, and -3db for stereo channels.
5. freeze/redesigned instrument tracks. the instrument track is MIDI, until frozen. then you see a blue waveform image on that track, and the track effectively becomes an audio channel. no separate MIDI/audio channels. nice and clean. it would be sweet if rewire tracks functioned similarly...
also, when freeze is applied, the vi is disabled/bypassed with the current settings saved, so it would no longer use system resources, but is still recallable simply by un-freezing the track.
6. ability to force mono vi tracks, as well as better support for plugs with multiple output busses (battery2). i just hate having to bounce a part just to make it mono. also, for a typical drum kit, i usually break out individual drums to separate channels...and battery is not 5.1
7. project=>export audio. basically a one-step mixdown bounce, settings in preferences (i.e. format, bit depth, save to location). includes vi's, rewire, etc in the mixdown file.
8. (i know i'm dreaming) matrix/dematrix surround plugin for master section (lrcs/prologic/6.1ex, etc).
9. alternative speaker setup bundles...for instance, if doing lrcs mixes on a 5.1 setup, the current lcrs bundle only allows for 1 rear surround speaker. is there any way to add a second identical surround speaker, and bump both surround outputs down -6db?
10. low latency direct monitoring with 3rd party hardware
that's about all i can think of. most of it's kinda nit-picking. i'm pretty happy with everything else

Re: Wish list For DP 5.1 (or DP5?)
No. I'm not talking about that. Let say you add 16 new MIDI tracks. Now you see DP assigned a default output for them. But you want it set to, say, Kontakt 2, 1 through 16. As of now the only way to do that is manually each and every one of them. Why not make it automatic like "Audio Assignments" (select tracks, then option A)grimepoch wrote:Maybe I don't understand this correctly, but I believe if you mean like from the audio bundles, this is an added feature of DP5.0 I read.••• MIDI Assignments - (just like Audio Assignments)
Re: Wish list For DP 5.1 (or DP5?)
Ahh, okay. Well I guess I just never used that, I'm normally adding one at a time. What was frustrating me is that when I added even one, the default output for the MIDI wasn't selectable, and the new MIDI bundles thing will allow me to control the default MIDI input/output from now on.chaim wrote: No. I'm not talking about that. Of course, it's really just the MIDI input I want to set, as I've got like 10 synths, so the output could never really work as a default. I'll have to read up on the audio assignements.
Let me ask you this, and point me in the manual if you know. I recently added an 896HD and had to setup tiger to use an Aggregate device. The problem is now all my audio bundles are incorrect. In one file I went through and changed all the names and mapping in the audio bundles, is there anyway to export that matrix & names and import it into older files? I saved what I had done as the new default template, but this isn't helping for older files, and I'm using 24+ inputs so you can imagine how long it takes to enter all the information in.

I don't use Tiger.grimepoch wrote:Let me ask you this, and point me in the manual if you know. I recently added an 896HD and had to setup tiger to use an Aggregate device. DP could handle multiple interfaces in the Hardware set up. Shift click.
Re: Wish list For DP 5.1 (or DP5?)
It still has that option, but it doesn't work right with two 896HDs. If I select them both in DP, no matter how I try to sync them, I get pops and clicks. If I create an aggregate device, no pops and clicks in everything except quicktime (don't ask, no one else can figure it out either).chaim wrote: DP could handle multiple interfaces in the Hardware set up. A rolling MIDI edit, in other words, the ability to highlight two MIDI notes that overlap each other, and only move the transition of those notes to each other, earlier or later.
That would be great. I spoke to Dave Roberts about this at AES he said that would be great!
Also it would be cool if the ruler bar "measures" could display time or measures.
In pitch correction, if the track color is red or blue, the vibrato line (whatever it is called) could be lightly outlined in white. Only because when I am drawing in new data, if the track color is red, I need to temporarily change the track color to see it. Tisk tisk

Use File Menu/Load to import Audio Bundles (dont' load Chunks or Soundbites).grimepoch wrote:chaim wrote:

Excellent! I will try that out, thanks!!!Tim wrote: Use File Menu/Load to import Audio Bundles (dont' load Chunks or Soundbites).
