I'm no expert, but can't you use Consoles for this? Full disclosure: Consoles are crashing for me quite a bit while I am attempting to use/learn them, but I think that's what they're for.toodamnhip wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:04 pm I still havent seen any sign of a big fix list, anyone seen one? Also, I applaud MOTU for improving articulation mapping. But does anyone here wish for a fader bank dedicated to continuous controllers? For me, dealing with controller data in VIs will never be convenient until they are translated into a fader bank so one can touch, trim and do all the automation necessary to comfortable edit CC data. That would be a fantatsic "next project" for MOTU! I never hear others speak of such a feature, but it seems to make so much sense.

It could be 'cause there's always been the ability to create said bank in the form of a Console.toodamnhip wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:04 pm...But does anyone here wish for a fader bank dedicated to continuous controllers? That doesn't cover the automation aspect of it 'though, so yeah, I'd be all for it, Hipster.

Re: DP11 is here!
On TDH's question about faders for CC and both monkey's suggestion about Consoles- if you are recording MIDI and have set up your console-- would it "roughly" work in the way TDH was requesting? I.e., could one use console faders to record CC's; and watch faders in console to see recorded CC data?
Has the consoles feature seen any update love with recent versions? I guess if they are causing some crashes, then not enough.

Re: DP11 is here!
I don't get it... What's the point of growable faders if you still don't have the names of the channels in a lane AT THE TOP of the mixer as well?
This seems like something too easy and useful to add, yet they didn't.
If you want to set a plugin or a send, you don't know which channel you're manipulating because you can't see the name 'cause it's all the way down, especially with lots of plugin slots and sends... I thought they would dupllicate the name lane at the top by now, but no...
I can't count how many times I've messed a plugin in another unintended channel, or how annoying it is to scroll down to see the name, follow the strip up and hope to change the right one. This is worse in Narrow view mode.
No channel strip colours throughout the mixer channels either, alla PT?? Why not?
I will try DP 11. It seems to have a few new nice additions, but other than Chunk folders, none of my wishes or suggestions were implemented at all...
STILL no folders for VI bundles??? Why not!? Have you tried sorting out those bundles lately? It's so slow and horrible it's almost impossible, unless you have spare hours to waste... It's actually easier to delete them and do them again than sorting them (if you have a lot of VI bundles.
I'm looking forward to see what the Articulation Maps fuss is all about. That seems useful..

Re: DP11 is here!
Sorry, but I also must ask this...
Have the unwanted damned automation ramps issues and bugs been fixed when pasting or snipping in DP 11? Has anyone tried it?
That will probaly determine if I stayin DP9.5 or I upgrade to 11...

I thought that was addressed in one of the 10 point something releases. Am I incorrect on this?

Re: DP11 is here!
Which bugs are those specifically FMiguelez?
Re: DP11 is here!
I don't see how that's an issue. The faders grow, but they also shrink. The fill the available space in the mixer window after everything else is displayed. The channel names are always visible unless you make the mixer very narrow.
I DO think it would help to have two lines for the channel/track name, particularly in narrow view.

Re: DP11 is here!
See my post above. They're not completely gone, but they happen much less, and they're nowhere near as difficult to deal with as they were. But why they are there at all is the mystery. I can't see why you'd want them, and if you do, they'd be easy enough to draw. Sometime I'll do a test and see what these ramps actually do. They might just be a display error, not a data error.

Re: DP11 is here!
I upgraded to DP11 today (download) and called them to ask the same question.
They told me that the only printed manual that would become available would be a 200-page "How to get set up and started sort of manual". It will be available to those wanting it at no charge other than the cost of the shipping to you.
There will not be a 900-page reference printed manual (which is what I called hoping to be able to buy as a separate item). But I suppose all of that info is available under the reference tab under "Help" at the top of the page.
Re: DP11 is here!
I think printed manuals are a thing of the past. You can download the manual or find it at Applications>DP Application (R. click, show contents)>Contents>Resources>English.lprog>Digital Performer Help>pdfs. I copied these files to my iPad.studiostuff wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 1:25 pmI upgraded to DP11 today (download) and called them to ask the same question.

Re: DP11 is here!
Tested it. Dead accurate, first of all. In the past I've had DP and DSP-Quattro disagree on levels. Now they agree. On resolution, yes. If you shrink the fader, rolling a finger on trackpad 2 gets you resolution to .1 db. If you expand the fader, it reads out .01 db increments and you can tweak to within .03 to .05 on a 4K screen with the trackpad or a mouse.

Re: DP11 is here!
Ibuilt the most extravagant console maybe 15+ years ago for the Roland VS880. I had the whole thing taped, even effects automated. Roland even came to my studio to see it. It was quite an ordeal to make it. Haven't used consoles since. But by distant recollection, it would have to be made for each new track or CC data. In other words, I believe it would either have to be built an extraordinary amount of times. Its been awhile. But no matter, this is far too difficult even though it is a fantastic under the hood feature for DP. But I am looking for something a bit more elegant than a console approach. Something dedicated and quick to access,,,like a fader.monkey man wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 11:00 pmIt could be 'cause there's always been the ability to create said bank in the form of a Console.toodamnhip wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:04 pm...But does anyone here wish for a fader bank dedicated to continuous controllers?
