Apparently anything behind a wifi router is not accessible with this command because there is not info to get around the local NAT. The command only takes you to the router the computer is using, not on to a specific local address behind the router.
I'm afraid of really derailing this thread and hopelessly confusing the OP :sorry: , but this should work if the router has port forwarding enabled, something not immediately apparent or possible with the end user.

Yeah SSH (and any protocol) should work fine but you have to set up port forwarding in your router. I used to keep mine up (with a DynDNS address too) so I could FTP/SSH/whatever to my Mac at home from work when I needed to. Works great, but you need to keep up on your security if you're going to start opening up holes.

apanacci - you have to enable passthrough of sound. Should work fine, maybe a little latent depending on your internet connection. I wouldn't get your hopes up of monitoring in real time over VNC though.

I went to Preferences in VNC Viewer and I checked off "Hear Audio from the Remote Computer". Did not work. I must be doing something wrong or I need to route my audio a certain way.
