DP won't run

DP won't run
After installing DP 4.5 from the disc I go to open and nothing happens. It won't ask for the key code. It goes straight to the applications box and prompts me to select files. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Why won't it start up correctly?

Re: DP won't run
So what happens when you select a file? Does DP THEN work? Or does it crash? What are the symptoms?echotrix wrote:After installing DP 4.5 from the disc I go to open and nothing happens. Are you upgrading or is this a new install?
If new, are we talking 4.5 or 4.52? (4.52 was the last version before 4.6 - I think).
What OS version are you using?
What is your hardware configuration?
What version of DP was running before?
Is this a registered copy? Or are you trying to upgrade from an earlier version (that might have a different Key Code)
Lots of questions, but w/o some more info, no one will be able to help you.
Welcome to the forum, BTW.
I'm using OSX and this is a new install of 4.5. I haven't registered it yet. I'm running on a Powerbook G4. The only other major softwares installed are Reason 3 and OSX. There's plenty of room for it to operate. It doesn't crash when I open the application. It just loads up, opens the DP menu at the top of the screen and sends me to OS's choose file box. The farthest I get when I'm sent there is the option to open Grooves, Clicks, and Extras. Nothing is in those files that allows the software to run. I will give more info if you need it. Thanks for the reply.

What color manual do you have? Red? Green? What version # appears on the cover? More specifically, is it 4.5 or 4.52? These sound like dumb questions, but they are not.echotrix wrote:I'm using OSX and this is a new install of 4.5. I haven't registered it yet. I'm running on a Powerbook G4. Are you entering the key code exactly as it appears in the manual?
Which OS X? 10.1; 10.3; 10.4..4? Sorry to appear anal, but it is important as there were specific install issues with specific versions of DP and the OS. I can help with some of these. Others may be able to help with others.
Haven't registered it yet? 4.5 is a fairly old version. Is this a disc you bought or got from someone? If it is yours, I would have imagined you would have registered it a few years ago. Have you contacted tech support on this?
Determining which OS and EXACTLY which version of DP is important in solving the problem. Hope we can help.

When the application was installed I never got the option to enter the keycode. I got this from a friend who doesn't use DP anymore. Its version 4.5
OSX 10.4.1
If you mean opening a new file on DP, I can't. All of those menu options are blocked. Only Help works. I have the keycode but the window never pops up to enter it.
