Sorry you had to go through that. Simply reinstalling DP 7.24 would have accomplished the same thing—as you had not deleted your Auth File, you would not have had to find your CD. The person who helped you was right but the solution was simpler than what you did.Anders Peev wrote:Hi, I forgot to update this thread. I got the best help I could wish for from the MOTU-tech-link-support.
DP7.24 was corrupted because I had DP9 for trial temporarily installed on my mac. I had DP9 deleted almost immediately since it didn't work very well with my old mac and/or os, if I remembered it right.
I simply had to delete all about DP from my mac with app-trap and then reinstall DP7 from the original disc. The disc drive is broken on the mac so I had to buy an external. But it was worth it! Now it works very well again and the bounce to movie feature is back.
According to the guy that helped me DP7 and DP9 share common system files. Hence the corruption and missing feature. Good to know when the time comes to buy a new mac pro.
Thanks for the support MIDILife Crisis and mikehalloran!

DP has many shared resources and installation overwrites files of the same name, even if newer. There was a recent thread where two users were trying to collaborate and the one with DP 9 kept hosing it by installing 7.24 — the 64 bit versions of many resources were being replaced by 32 bit. You had the opposite issue.
I was able to reproduce the problem and solution on my test drive. Had you mentioned the DP 9 trial install, I would have known the problem and solution immediately.
I’m not writing this to bust your chops. It’s that problems are much easier so solve when the person tells us everything. There’ a lot of experience around here.
