Bounce to Quick Time Movie has disappeared

Post by Anders Peev »

Hi all!

Is it something about QT kodecs not properly installed? The "Quick Time Export:movie" is no longer in the Format menu when I choose the bounce to disk command. I need to send line outs to my director.

I'm on DP 7.24, in the middle of a project, and can't upgrade until 2019. Old mac and so on.

Please help if you know how to deal with this issue!

Best!

Do you have Quicktime 7.7 installed? This was the last version for OS 10.5.8 and should still be available from Apple.

I have no idea how old this is nor what version of DP it’s referring to http://helpwiki.evergreen.edu/wiki/inde ... _Performer

I can't find QT 7.7 for mac anywhere. The latest I've found on apple home page is 7.6.6, which I already have installed on my mac. :(

7.6 was the last version AFAIK. Probably a typo from Mike.

Thanks MIDI Life Crisis!

I recalled that I downloaded and installed a newer version of DP from Motu.com last spring or so. But it didn't work so well on Snow Leopard so I uninstalled it and decided to wait until Apple release the new Mac pros in 2019. Can it be something about that? That my short affair with DP9 has corrupted my DP7.24 somehow? I also noticed that the DP-preference files in the library looks like they have a new look, their icons have changed. I have already tried putting them in the trash and reinstalled DP7.24. But they still look the same. And Movie-bounce cannot be seen in the bounce command dialog box. What to do? It used to work out so smoothly!

I am still on 7.24. How could it possibly move on it's own? :D

I did it, but no change. The DP-icons on the library files still look unfamiiar. Maybe I should try to delete them with app-trap and the reinstall?

I've never seen anything like that so anything I offer further would be pure speculation. Maybe a tech link to MOTU is called for.

Yes, it's wierd! I'll contact the MOTU support right away. I figure that something must have happend to my DP 7.24 installation after the DP9 trial. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi, I forgot to update this thread. I got the best help I could wish for from the MOTU-tech-link-support.

DP7.24 was corrupted because I had DP9 for trial temporarily installed on my mac. I had DP9 deleted almost immediately since it didn't work very well with my old mac and/or os, if I remembered it right.

I simply had to delete all about DP from my mac with app-trap and then reinstall DP7 from the original disc. The disc drive is broken on the mac so I had to buy an external. But it was worth it! Now it works very well again and the bounce to movie feature is back.

According to the guy that helped me DP7 and DP9 share common system files. Hence the corruption and missing feature. Good to know when the time comes to buy a new mac pro.

Thanks for the support MIDILife Crisis and mikehalloran!

On a side note (and perhaps you already noticed) DP 8 and later changes movie and other bounces. It no longer uses the QuickTime engine resulting in the loss of many options, including the creation of a referenced movie file and other options. Kind of sucks. I suspect it has something to do with licensing qt from Apple. Regardless of the reason, it’s a pain in the butt.

Umm, I didn't know that. That explains a lot of things. Thanks.

No it wasn’t. 7.7 was the last version fo OS 10.5 and should b installed in the Applications Folder.

https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/7964/apple-quicktime

I think it can still be downloaded here:
http://www.oldapps.com/mac/quicktime.ph ... pard_intel

It does not work over OS 10.6 and later. for that you need 7.6.6 installed in the Utilities Foldeer.
