Machfive 4 this year?

Re: Machfive 4 this year?
Indeed. If there's a reasonable upgrade path, I'll go for it.
Re: Machfive 4 this year?
I also just talked to someone at MOTU and it sounded like they were also a bit surprised with the release of Falcon.
I asked if there were plans to continue development of Mach5 and the answer I got is there should be more info and clarification next week after AES...........

You can talk until you're blue in the face, but until something actually happens it's all conjecture. Frankly, I'm very happy with M5 and don't see anything I really need in Falcon.

Re: Machfive 4 this year?
My evidence was the fact that I own both MachFive 3 and Falcon, and Falcon looks/works/sounds exactly like MachFive, with the exception that it has a bunch of new features (but a much smaller factory library).mhschmieder wrote:THIS was what I was responding to. Please provide your evidence.UltimateOutsider wrote:but there is no question that Falcon IS MachFive 4.
It is a new version of the same program, and this is immediately obvious to anyone who's used both.
I still haven't heard anything from MOTU, but as someone here already mentioned, UVI is planning on an upgrade offer for MachFive users.

Re: Machfive 4 this year?
Indeed, I have the same question.magicmusik wrote: important thing for me i notice in Falcon description, that Falcon have no *.sf2 and kontakt, exs24 import format. machfive can do it, in featurelist....
Can Falcon handle those like M53? If so, great. If not, then Falcon isn't a low cost equivalent to MachFive even if it has much of the same functionality some very attractive new features.
I am not really interested in Falcon, BTW. I am unlikely to use that new synth and haven't found a feature that I feel I need. If, however, it lets me use Sound Fonts, EXS24 and other VIs that DP doesn't support and MOTU doesn't offer an upgrade of M5, yes, I'll likely purchase it at some point.
I bought MachFive3 when there was a cross-grade sale at Sweetwater. It sat unused till a couple of years ago when I was doing a commercial and I needed a calliope VI. I couldn't find any AUs or VSTs only a SF file. I was about to post here with a question about how to use them in DP when I decided to look at M5. Bingo. Later, I was about to pull the trigger on IRCAM TS, then remembered it was also included. I have slowly discovered other features as I needed them.
I may go the rest of my life without ever doing a synth based sound design. Of course, if someone throws $$$$ my way, it's nice to know that I have lots of cool tools and toys at my fingertips. And, if I need Falcon, it's not expensive.

If that is true, can you confirm that it handles all the file formats that can be handled in MachFive, i.e. EXS, Kontakt, sf2?UltimateOutsider wrote:Falcon looks/works/sounds exactly like MachFive, with the exception that it has a bunch of new features (but a much smaller factory library).

In that case I am definitely staying away from doing anything until we get clarification.kgdrum wrote:I also just talked to someone at MOTU and it sounded like they were also a bit surprised with the release of Falcon.

I don't know if you can say 100% that it doesn't support those other formats, this is also posted about Falcon in that same link:
So my guess is all the formats M53 supported, UVI just break them into 'native' support and 'imported, converted' support.ON-THE-FLY CONVERSION
Import audio files of nearly any format, bit depth or sample rate regardless of your project settings. Falcon's on-the-fly resampling provides a seamless 'it just works' sample experience.

the text
If falcon can really import instrument files as machfive do, wy they should it not add to the list above ?. they want sell a product. so it must be clear for them, that they need list all features, to sell more. sure they can forget it, but there have several people notice that falcon import much less instruments than machfive. so if they really forget it, they can write on youtube ups, we have forget to write. but currently they say nothing
and read about the text. there stand
audio files are only the single samples in common language
is only a imprecise marketing buzzword.Import audio files of nearly any format,

I hear you on all that. There's a long thread over at KVR on Falcon in which one of the developers has been responding. I'll cut and paste that comparison as see what he says.magicmusik wrote:the textis only a imprecise marketing buzzword.Import audio files of nearly any format,

In regards to Kontakt the new Kontakt 5 format can't be imported by anybody, in terms of marketing that's a bit tricky; too many people would assume K5 support since it's been out for a couple years now.

Re: Machfive 4 this year?
I get also the idea to open a thread in kvr forum, but under what category."Wy from 2012 (when machfive 3 come) much more sounds come for Kontakt than machfive 3."
for the lots features machfive have, there come really really few. look also at the reaktor from native instruments. Who use this ?. I not. but when look, there come so much deluxe arps, sequencer etc. but machfive have only the simple arp and the few scripts that are attach from developer.
really strange what reason this have. the thread i think should help, that machfive developers notice, wy there so few devs do scripts and instruments.
I not own kontakt, i only play with the demo version, maybe i buy the 6, but the 5 with so very small font, fixed size is worth no cent for me. also in kontakt is not possible in browser to hear a wav/audio file when click on them. i see in video, that machfive have preview. also all other have that. I think kontakt have the worsest handling and usage of all, but wy it have far the most sounds and instruments scripts, that are made for this.
for kontakt is also a free script engine here, that offer more features, have filter sequencer too
http://www.jeremiahpena.com/photosynthesis/engine/
What is the reason ?. Halion and other have no script, so its clear. but machfive have script feature. I can program, have too much other hobbies and i am lazy, but i look in uvi script examples, the script language look much better for me as from contact. so wy not more for machfive ?. what is better in kontakt, and should enhance, that so much program instruments for kontakt. i think there need market check do why kontakt is so much loved with all the limits
