MIDI Output Assignment Bug
There is a HUGE MIDI bug I found in DP 9.
Sometimes in the middle of a session - for no apparent reason that I can think of - DP 9 stops letting me route MIDI outputs. I open the session and everything works fine. Then around an hour or so in, when I click the MIDI output section on a MIDI track nothing happens... Nothing is greyed out or anything. Just nothing happens. No pop down menu, no nothing. When this happens I just have to quit out of DP and start the session over. This solves the problem until it randomly just starts happening again.
DP 8 doesn't do this - so I've switched back. I've been using DP since DP 4 and this has never been an issue for me. I hope this gets solved...

I’ve seen this too, as have others. Sometimes multiple attempts resolves the issue, sometimes re starting DP etc.

I've reported this to MOTU and they are looking into it. Also pointed them to earlier thread here.

Uno mas.
I wouldn't characterize it as "huge" by any stretch. Easy to work around. Just restart DP. Still, I sure hope they squash it. Since it's intermittent it may be hard to diagnose.

If your working on a big template and that it takes a while just reload the project, it IS a very annoying bug.

Re: MIDI Output Assignment Bug
As I reported in another thread, the “FIX” for this is to highlight a track or series of tracks and hit option and the “a” key.
This gives you the output assignment box and from there you can assign your MIDI. After doing this the 1st time, you probably can just click on the output of the track thereafter as it seems to fix the problem.
Good luck.

Re: MIDI Output Assignment Bug
Cool! It hasn't happened to me for several days, but I'll try this next time it does. Thanks!

Re: MIDI Output Assignment Bug
+1, happened to me once as well. A quit and restart of DP resolved it at the time.

Re: MIDI Output Assignment Bug
Anybody getting random changes to the MIDI outputs when reopening a Project? Got a Techlink going on this one. It seems there might be a few issues with the MIDI output scheme.
