Connecting 2 XLR AES/EBU cables together?

Post by Nibiru »

Hey all!

This is probably a really dumb question, but I need to know, and Google isn't the all knowing quite just yet.

Question: Can I connect 2 XLR AES/EBU cables together for the purpose of adding length, without any problems? Like weird digi artifacts or errors? Connecting the AES output of a Rosetta 200 to a MiniDAC.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I appreciate it. However, it's not what I was asking. I should have been more clear.

I have two aes/ebu cables, which are both xlr, as they usually are. All I'm curious about is, whether I can connect the two of them to double the length, so I can use my MiniDAC for monitoring the Rosetta 200.

Thanks again!

Should be fine. Try it and see!

Works great in the analog realm for audio. One of the things I love about XLR connectors.

If crosstalk is an issue, then no. If not, then yes.

Crosstalk is the limiting factor with most digital cable length and configurations.

Interesting. I wouldn't think crosstalk to be an issue with digital cables. Thanks for the tips guys! Gonna give it a shot in a couple hours.
